Overview

This document provides installation and operating instructions for the Montpellier SFO65MX Built-in 65ltr Single Oven, a stainless steel appliance designed for domestic household use. It emphasizes safety, proper installation, and effective use and maintenance to ensure years of trouble-free operation.

Function Description:

The Montpellier SFO65MX is a versatile electric oven with a 65-liter capacity, offering various cooking functions to suit different culinary needs. Its core purpose is to provide a reliable and efficient cooking solution for a range of dishes, from baking pastries and cakes to grilling meats and toasting foods. The oven features a control panel with an oven function control knob, a mechanical timer, and an oven thermostat knob, allowing users to select specific cooking modes and temperatures.

Available cooking functions include:

  • Oven Lamp: Illuminates the oven interior, remaining on for the duration of the cooking function.
  • Defrost Function: Operates the fan to circulate air, aiding in the defrosting of frozen foods. It's recommended to place food on the third shelf from the bottom with a tray underneath to catch melting water. This function does not cook or bake.
  • Static Cooking Function: Utilizes both lower and upper heating elements to provide even heat, ideal for baking pastries, cakes, baked pasta, lasagna, and pizza. Preheating for 10 minutes is recommended, and it's best to use only one shelf at a time.
  • Fan Assisted Function: Engages the upper and lower heating elements along with the fan, providing air circulation for a slightly grilled effect. This function is excellent for baking pastry and ensures even heat distribution. Preheating for about 10 minutes is recommended.
  • Lower Heating and Fan Function: Activates the lower heating element and the fan, ideal for heating foods evenly in a short time. Preheating for about 10 minutes is recommended.
  • Grilling Function: Uses the grill heating element for grilling and toasting foods on the upper shelves. Users should lightly brush the wire grid with oil to prevent sticking and place a tray beneath to catch drips. The oven door must be closed, and the temperature adjusted to 190°C. Preheating for about 10 minutes is recommended.
  • Faster Grilling Function: Activates the grill and upper heating elements for quicker grilling and larger surface areas of food. Similar to the standard grilling function, it requires the oven door to be closed and the temperature set to 190°C, with preheating for about 10 minutes.
  • Double Grill and Fan Function: Combines the grill, upper heating elements, and fan for faster grilling of thicker foods and larger surface areas, ensuring even cooking. The oven door must be closed, and the temperature set to 190°C, with preheating for about 10 minutes.

The mechanical minute minder timer allows users to set a desired cooking time, sounding an audible warning when the time expires. The oven remains switched on until manually turned off.

Usage Features:

The oven is designed for user convenience and safety. When using for the first time, it's recommended to run the empty oven at maximum temperature for 45 minutes in a well-ventilated area to dissipate any initial smells from insulation materials.

Key usage recommendations include:

  • Temperature Control: After selecting a cooking function, the thermostat knob is used to set the desired temperature. The thermostat light indicates when the oven is heating or maintaining temperature.
  • Accessory Use: The oven comes with a deep tray, suitable for cooking stews and catching spills during grilling, and a wire shelf for grilling or holding oven-friendly containers. Accessories should be correctly placed and pushed to the end of the oven cavity.
  • Door Safety: Care should be taken when opening the oven door during or after cooking due to hot steam. The oven door should not be used to lift or move the appliance, nor should children climb or sit on it when open. When grilling, the oven door must be closed.
  • Food Handling: Always use oven gloves when removing or replacing food. Be cautious when pulling out trays, as they may incline, potentially spilling hot food.
  • Unattended Cooking: Avoid leaving the cooker unattended, especially when cooking with solid or liquid oils, as they can catch fire. In case of oil fires, switch off the cooker and cover the pan with a lid or fire blanket; do not use water.
  • Flammable Materials: Do not place flammable or combustible materials in or near the appliance during operation.
  • Long-term Storage: If the oven will not be used for an extended period, turn off the main control switch and ensure control knobs are in the "0" (stop) position.

Maintenance Features:

Regular cleaning and maintenance are crucial for the appliance's efficiency, safety, and longevity.

  • General Cleaning: Always switch off the appliance and allow it to cool before cleaning. Use cream or liquid cleaners without particles to avoid scratching surfaces. Do not use harsh abrasive cleaners, scourers, rough wire wool, or steam cleaners.
  • Inside the Oven: The enamelled interior is best cleaned while warm. Wipe with a soft cloth soaked in soapy water after each use, then rinse with a wet cloth and dry. Occasionally, a liquid cleaning material may be needed for thorough cleaning.
  • Glass Parts: Clean regularly with a glass cleaner, then rinse and dry thoroughly with a dry cloth.
  • Stainless Steel Parts: Clean regularly with a soft cloth soaked in water, then dry thoroughly. Avoid cleaning while hot and do not leave acidic substances like vinegar, coffee, milk, salt, water, lemon, or tomato juice on stainless steel for extended periods.
  • Water Collector: If condensation appears on the inner oven door, open the door to the grilling position for 20 seconds to allow water to drip into the collector. Cool the oven and wipe the door interior with a dry towel. This procedure should be applied regularly.
  • Oven Door Removal: For thorough cleaning of the oven door glass, the door can be removed. This involves opening the door, using a screwdriver to open the saddle bracket to its end position, and then closing the door until it almost reaches the fully closed position before pulling it towards you to remove it.
  • Oven Lamp Replacement: The oven lamp is a replaceable light source (230 V, 15-25 Watt, Type E14, resistant to 300 °C). To replace, switch off the appliance, allow it to cool, remove the glass lens, replace the bulb, and then reattach the lens. This task should ideally be carried out by a professional as the light source cannot be replaced by the end user. The included light source is specifically for household cooking appliances and not for general room illumination.

All maintenance and repair work should only be carried out by authorized service technicians to ensure safety and maintain warranty validity. Using original spare parts is recommended.
