Outback Optional Gravity Ballast System

allow the bag to expand freely.
Outback LS & Mobius LS Gravity III
These boats have an optional split rear tank which allows
for adjustment in weight from port or starboard.
Outback LS & Mobius LS Gravity II
These boats have a double ballast system. The fore ballast
LVLQWKHVNLORFNHUORFDWHGLQWKHÀRRURIWKHERDW7KHDIW
ballast is in a large tank under the rear seat.
Each Gravity Ballast system also
includes an in-line water strainer
before the manifold. This strainer will
keep debris out of the solenoid valve
and should prevent the valve from
getting clogged up and forced open.
The strainer cover should be removed
periodically and the filter screen
cleaned to prevent debris buildup on
the mesh screen. Be careful when
removing the cover not to lose the
O-ring used to seal the cover. Also, the strainer should be
removed and drained during winterization.

press the empty switch. With the ballast full, the boat may
porpoise at speeds above 25 mph.
Empty ballast before trailering the boat. DO NOT trailer
boat with ballast full!
The Gravity Ballast system utilizes a manifold and a solenoid

valves have a small toggle switch that can manually override
the opening of the valve. The manual toggle switch needs
WR EH LQ WKH ³GRZQ´ SRVLWLRQ WR DOORZ WKH V\VWHP WR EH
controlled by the switches in the dash area. If the manual
WRJJOHVZLWFKLVWXUQHGWRWKH³XS´SRVLWLRQWKHYDOYHZLOOEH
open all the time and cannot be controlled by switches in
WKHGDVKDUHD,IWKHEDOODVWV\VWHP¿OOVFRQWLQXRXVO\ZKLOH
running the boat, check to make sure the manual override
WRJJOH VZLWFK LV LQ WKH ³GRZQ´ SRVLWLRQ ,I LW FRQWLQXHV WR

check for debris that may have clogged the solenoid valve
IRUFLQJWKHYDOYHWRVWD\RSHQ,IWKHYDOYHVFRQWLQXHWR¿OO
closing the manual emergency shut-off valve will prevent
any water from entering the system.
