5 - Engine Coolant Temperature
The engine coolant temperature is displayed on a gauge located on the instrument panel. The engine coolant
temperature should not exceed the normal running temperature. If the gauge indicates that the engine coolant
is higher then normal the engine should be stopped (at the next safe place) and the engine left to cool. The
engine coolant level should be checked after the coolant has cooled before using the car again.
Warning
High engine coolant temperatures can cause serious and permanent damage to an engine
Never check the engine coolant level when the coolant is hot
Remove the coolant top up cap slowly using some protection to protect from scolding from steam of hot water.
6 - Tyre Monitor
The round dial next to the steering wheel is the display for the tyre monitoring system. When the ignition is
switched on the buzzer will sound and the display will show all the settings. If after a few seconds the buzzer
continues and the red light is on, you will have a tyre with low pressure. The tyre will be indicated on the screen.
Notice
Correct the tyre pressure before driving off. Each wheel is fitted with a sensor that has a small radio transmitter.
This is preset to the standard tyre pressures.
Warning
If the tyre monitor is activated when the car is in motion, it could indicate a puncture. You must stop the car
immediately. If you do not, the tyre wall may be damaged and the inflation canister will not work. The left button
below the screen scrolls round the tyres and shows the pressures. The middle button when pressed will show, 1
the pressure, 2 the pressure difference and 3 the temperature of the tyre. The third button returns the screen to
normal. If the right hand part of the screen is blank, no data has been received; no data will be seen until the
vehicle is driven.
See Wheels and tyres (page 18) for more information.
