15.9 Cooling System
Warning
Do not remove the coolant filler cap when the engine is warm. The escaping steam and boiling water may cause
serious scalding and injury.
Coolant fluids are dangerous; keep out of reach of children, swallowing coolant may damage your health
resulting in death or serious damage to your body.
It is essential that the engine be supplied with sufficient water/antifreeze mixture at all times. In an engine of
this type, antifreeze or water additive must be present in the water at all times. Antifreeze should be kept at a
minimum of 50% by volume.
Whenever the car is serviced and periodically between these times, the coolant must be checked. At the same
time it is recommended that all the hose clips and hoses be examined for tightness and damage. Any persistent
loss of water should be indicated to your dealer when the car is serviced, or before if the quantity seems high.
Notice
When the expansion tank is filled above the marking, water would be discharged when the engine is hot.
Electric Fans
The electric fan is positioned behind the radiator and is operated by a temperature switch in the engine and
controlled by the ECU. The fan has 2 stages; stage 1 will cut in at around 100°, stage 2 at 103°. Stage 2 will cut
out at 100° and stage 1 at 93°. As the temperature rises in traffic, the fan will then cut in and cut out. If you have
any doubt about the operation of the fan system, consult your Morgan Dealer.
Warnings
Do not allow tools, hands or clothing to come into contact with the fan. The fan may operate without warning,
even with the ignition switched off!
