Overview

This document is an assembly and user manual for the Mosaic 28" Kingsland Gas Fire Pit, with item number FSMVPT5018 and model number SRGF11634.

Function Description:

The Mosaic 28" Kingsland Gas Fire Pit is an outdoor appliance designed for heating patios, decks, spas, pools, and open working areas. It operates on LP gas and provides radiant heat. The fire pit is intended for outdoor use only and should not be used in enclosed spaces. It features a control panel for ignition and heat output adjustment, a cylinder holder assembly for a 20 lb (9 kg) LP gas cylinder, and a burning area for lava rocks. A cover lid is provided for protection when not in use.

Important Technical Specifications:

  • Certification: CSA
  • Rated Heat Input: 50000 BTU/HR
  • Fuel: LP (Liquid Propane)
  • Gas Supply: 20 lb (9 kg) LP gas cylinder
  • Manifold Pressure: 11" W.C.
  • Injector Size (diameter): 2.22mm
  • Gas Supply Pressure: Max. 250PSI, Min. 5PSI
  • Assembly Time: Estimated 30 minutes (adult assembly required)
  • Clearance to Combustible Materials: At least 50 inches from combustible materials, gasoline, and other flammable liquids and vapors.
  • Cylinder Requirements: Must be constructed and marked in accordance with U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) specifications or CAN/CSA-B339. Must be provided with a listed overfilling prevention device and a cylinder connection device compatible with the appliance. Must use a cylinder supply system arranged for vapor withdrawal and include a collar to protect the cylinder valve.

Usage Features:

  • Outdoor Use Only: The appliance is designed exclusively for outdoor use in a well-ventilated space.
  • Easy Ignition: Features a control knob for simple ignition and heat adjustment from "LOW" to "HIGH."
  • Lava Rocks: The burning area is designed to hold lava rocks, which are included, to enhance the flame appearance and heat distribution.
  • Safety Features: Includes warnings for gas leaks, carbon monoxide hazards, and high surface temperatures. It emphasizes the importance of proper installation, leak testing, and supervision of children and pets.
  • Cylinder Security: The LP gas cylinder is secured within the fire pit's enclosure using a locking bolt.
  • Cover Lid: A cover lid (K) is provided to protect the burning area when the fire pit is not in use.
  • Flame Characteristics: Normally produces a yellow burner flame. A blue and small flame may indicate low gas pressure or an empty cylinder. Flames lifting away from the burner, backfire, or thick black smoke indicate a problem requiring immediate shutdown and professional servicing.
  • Operation Pressure Check: If the flame is very small, it indicates insufficient supply pressure, and the gas cylinder may need refilling.
  • Shut Down Procedure: Involves turning the control knob to "OFF" and then turning off the LP cylinder gas valve.
  • Relighting: Requires waiting five minutes after turning off the control knob before attempting to relight.
  • Gas Leakage Protocol: In case of a gas leak, immediately turn off the control knob and LP cylinder valve, wait five minutes, and if the odor persists, call the gas supplier.

Maintenance Features:

  • Regular Cleaning: Exterior surfaces should be cleaned with warm soapy water. Flammable or corrosive cleaning agents should not be used.
  • Burner Area: The area around the burner must be kept dry. If the gas control is exposed to water, it must be replaced.
  • Clearance: The appliance area must be kept free of combustible materials, gasoline, and other flammable vapors and liquids. The flow of combustion and ventilation air must not be obstructed, and ventilation openings of the cylinder enclosure must be free of debris.
  • Hose Inspection: The hose should be checked for cracks or worn sections, and replaced if damaged.
  • Annual Inspection: The unit should be inspected at least once a year for spiders, spider webs, or other insects, which can cause blockages.
  • Airflow: Airflow must be unobstructed, and controls, burner, and circulating air passageways must be kept clean. Signs of blockage include the fire pit not reaching the desired temperature, uneven glow, or popping noises.
  • Burner Hole Cleaning: Burner holes can be cleaned using a heavy-duty pipe cleaner or compressed air.
  • Corrosion Check: In salt-air environments, corrosion occurs more quickly, so frequent checks and prompt repairs of corroded areas are recommended.
  • Storage: The fire pit should be stored indoors during winter if exposed to freezing temperatures. The cylinder must be disconnected and removed before indoor storage. The cylinder itself must be stored outdoors in a well-ventilated area, out of reach of children, with threaded valve plugs tightly installed.
  • Protection: When not in use, the fire pit should be covered to protect exterior surfaces and prevent debris buildup in air passages.
  • Sheltered Storage: Store the gas fire pit in an area sheltered from direct contact with inclement weather (rain, sleet, hail, snow, dust, and debris).
  • Professional Servicing: Installation and annual inspection and repair should be performed by a qualified service person.
  • Frequent Cleaning: The control compartment, burner, and circulating air passageways should be cleaned frequently.
