Overview

The DENALI Plow Mount MA11127 is a premium, custom-designed accessory specifically engineered to integrate a DENALI plow system with Yamaha Grizzly 550/700 ATVs. This mount serves as the crucial interface between the ATV's frame and the plow assembly, enabling the ATV to effectively operate as a snow removal or material-moving vehicle. Its primary function is to securely attach the plow frame to the ATV, ensuring stability and proper alignment during operation. The design prioritizes a robust connection, allowing the ATV's power to be efficiently transferred to the plow blade for effective material displacement.

Function Description

The core function of the DENALI Plow Mount MA11127 is to provide a stable and secure attachment point for a DENALI plow kit to a Yamaha Grizzly 550/700 ATV. It acts as a foundational component, allowing the ATV to transform into a versatile utility vehicle capable of handling various plowing tasks. The mount is designed to distribute the forces generated during plowing across the ATV's frame, minimizing stress on any single point and enhancing the overall durability of both the ATV and the plow system. By creating a rigid connection, the mount ensures that the plow blade maintains its intended angle and position relative to the ground, which is essential for efficient and consistent plowing performance.

The installation process involves integrating the mount with the ATV's existing undercarriage, specifically below the engine. This strategic placement ensures that the plow's weight and operational forces are centered and supported by the ATV's robust frame. The mount facilitates the quick attachment and detachment of the plow assembly, a key feature for users who need to switch between plowing and other ATV activities. This quick-release mechanism, typically involving a pin, streamlines the transition, making the system highly adaptable.

Furthermore, the mount's design considers the dynamic nature of plowing. It is engineered to withstand the various stresses encountered, such as impacts from uneven terrain, resistance from heavy snow or material, and the vibrations generated during operation. The materials used in its construction are selected for their strength and resilience, ensuring the mount's longevity and reliable performance in challenging environmental conditions. The mount's ability to securely hold the plow in both the raised and lowered positions is critical for safe transport and effective work. When the plow is raised, the mount keeps it clear of the ground, allowing the ATV to maneuver without dragging the blade. When lowered, it provides the necessary leverage and stability for the blade to engage with the material being moved.

Usage Features

The DENALI Plow Mount MA11127 is designed with user convenience and operational safety in mind. One of its primary usage features is its custom fit for the Yamaha Grizzly 550/700, ensuring optimal integration without the need for extensive modifications to the ATV. This precise fit contributes to the overall stability and performance of the plow system.

The installation process, while requiring some initial setup, is straightforward and guided by detailed instructions. It involves removing the middle plastic skid plate, using a provided template to mark drilling locations, drilling holes, and then securing the mount to the ATV's frame using U-bolts and serrated flange nuts. This method ensures a strong and reliable connection. The use of U-bolts allows the mount to clamp around the ATV's frame components, distributing the load effectively.

A significant usage feature is the mount's compatibility with the quick-release pin system included with DENALI Plow Kits. This allows for rapid attachment and detachment of the plow blade assembly, making it easy for users to convert their ATV for plowing tasks and then revert it to a standard ATV for other uses. This versatility is highly valued by users who utilize their ATV for multiple purposes throughout the year.

For safe operation, the mount's design implicitly supports the recommended operational guidelines. It facilitates the ability to operate the ATV at a walking speed (not exceeding 5 mph) with the blade installed, ensuring controlled movement and preventing excessive strain on the system. It also supports the recommendation to avoid operating the ATV on slopes greater than 10 degrees with the plow installed, which is crucial for maintaining ATV stability and preventing rollovers. The mount's robust construction ensures that the plow remains securely attached even during minor bumps or uneven terrain, contributing to safe operation.

Furthermore, the mount's design ensures that the plow can be easily lowered to the down position when the ATV is left unattended. This is a critical safety feature, preventing accidental movement of the plow or potential hazards to bystanders. The secure attachment provided by the mount means that once the plow is lowered, it remains stable.

Maintenance Features

While the DENALI Plow Mount MA11127 itself is a relatively low-maintenance component, its design incorporates features that facilitate easy inspection and contribute to the overall longevity of the plow system. The primary maintenance feature highlighted is the importance of checking and retightening all hardware after the first use of the plow. This "after first time use" check is crucial because the ATV's frame may flex under the initial stress of plowing, potentially causing the mount's hardware to loosen slightly. By retightening the nuts and bolts, users can ensure that the mount remains securely fastened, preventing any play or instability that could compromise performance or safety. This simple step helps to "seat" the mount properly onto the frame and maintain a tight connection.

The use of standard fasteners, such as U-bolts and serrated flange nuts, means that any necessary adjustments or replacements can be made with common tools. The serrated flange nuts are specifically chosen for their ability to resist loosening due to vibration, which is a common occurrence during ATV operation and plowing. This design choice inherently reduces the frequency of maintenance checks required for loosening, though the initial check remains vital.

The mount's exposed location beneath the ATV allows for relatively easy visual inspection. Users can periodically check the U-bolts and nuts for any signs of corrosion, damage, or loosening. The robust materials used in the mount's construction are typically designed to withstand exposure to environmental elements like moisture, snow, and road salt, which are common during plowing operations. This inherent durability minimizes the need for frequent component replacement.

Should any part of the mount become damaged, its modular design, consisting of the main mount plate, U-bolts, and nuts, allows for individual components to be replaced if necessary, rather than requiring the replacement of the entire assembly. This contributes to cost-effective maintenance over the lifespan of the product. Regular cleaning of the mount, especially after exposure to corrosive materials like salt, can also help extend its lifespan, although this is a general maintenance practice rather than a specific feature of the mount itself. The simplicity of the mount's design means there are no complex moving parts that require lubrication or intricate adjustments, further simplifying its maintenance profile.
