Water or dirt in the fuel system can also cause erratic running; drain the fuel tank and refill it with clean, fresh gasoline. Finally, a dirty air cleaner can contribute to this problem, so replace the air cleaner paper element or clean the foam pre-cleaner if your mower has one.
