Overview

The myPOS Carbon is a robust and high-performance point-of-sale (POS) device designed for businesses to accept credit and debit card payments. It operates on Android 9.0 and is equipped with a quad-core processor and a high-pressure thermal printer, offering a comprehensive set of functionalities within a single device. The myPOS Carbon is built to be power-efficient, dust-proof, shock-proof, and water-resistant, holding IP54 and ATEX certifications, ensuring durability and reliability in various environments.

Function Description:

The primary function of the myPOS Carbon is to facilitate secure and efficient payment processing. It supports a wide range of payment methods, including magnetic stripe cards, EMV chip & PIN cards, and contactless (NFC) payments. Beyond basic payment acceptance, the device integrates several built-in applications that enhance its utility for businesses. These include:

  • Payment app: For quick, innovative, and secure POS payments, activity tracking, and report generation.
  • Private Label GiftCard app: Enables businesses to load, activate, and accept payments with their own branded gift cards, turning products and services into gifts.
  • MO/TO Payment app: Allows for the acceptance of card-not-present (Mail Order/Telephone Order) transactions, providing flexibility for businesses to get paid remotely.
  • Cash register: Transforms the POS device into a powerful cash register for managing sales.
  • Top-up app: Facilitates topping up prepaid services for over 700 mobile operators in 141 countries, allowing businesses to earn commission instantly.
  • Settings app: For managing device configurations and preferences.
  • Payment request app: Enables businesses to request money from customers worldwide by sending payment request links via SMS or email.
  • AppMarket: A dedicated marketplace for business applications designed exclusively for myPOS smart devices.

The device is designed to link to a myPOS e-money account, ensuring that all accepted transactions are credited to the business's account. It also supports the activation of multiple myPOS devices under a single account.

  • Status Bar: Shows network status (Wi-Fi, signal strength), battery charge, and time, along with notification alerts.
  • Notification Panel: Accessible by dragging down the status bar, it displays system and configuration updates, and allows for quick access to settings like Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and display brightness.
  • Quick Settings: Provides shortcuts to turn functionalities ON/OFF and access additional features, including power off and reboot options by holding the ON/OFF button.
  • Device Settings: Organized into "Device" and "Network" tabs, allowing users to manage sound, display, language, battery, installed apps, print test receipts, memory & storage, software updates, and terminal information.
  • Network Settings: Manages data usage and connectivity options (Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, Mobile Network, APN settings).
  • Payment Acceptance:
    • Smart Card: Insert the card into the bottom reader with the chip facing the keyboard. PIN entry is required for confirmation.
    • Magnetic Stripe Card: Swipe the card through the top reader with the magnetic stripe facing up. PIN entry may be required.
    • Contactless Cards: Hold the card or smartphone approximately 3cm above the NFC reader. Four-color indicators will flash, and a beep confirms a successful read. PIN entry may be required.
  • MO/TO Transactions: Accept card-not-present payments by entering customer card details and the due amount via the MO/TO app.
  • GiftCard Management: Load, activate, check balance, and accept payments with Private Label GiftCards.
  • Payment Requests: Send payment request links via SMS or email to customers for remote payments.
  • Mobile Top-up: Recharge prepaid mobile services by entering a phone number, selecting a provider, choosing an amount, and confirming details.

Maintenance Features:

  • Configuration Update: The device receives updates from the myPOS account, which are applied via the Settings app.
  • System Update: Regular updates for myPOS OS, AppMarket, Payment app, Settings app, Launcher, and myPOS Remote are provided to ensure optimal performance, new features, bug fixes, and security.
  • Send Log from Terminal: Users can send device logs to myPOS Server for troubleshooting.
  • Reset Device: Option to reset the device to default settings, which requires re-activation and is used when switching stores or myPOS accounts.
  • Warranty and Return Policy: The product is not covered by Consumer law, as it is designated for business use. Clients are prohibited from opening or attempting to repair the device themselves. A 30-day return policy for the full myPOS package is in place. Distributors may offer post-sale customer support.
  • Disposal: The myPOS Carbon device, including its battery, cables, and other components, must not be disposed of with general household waste. Non-functioning devices should be sent for repair according to the return policy.
