How to fix a pilot light that will not light on my Napoleon GDS3700-N Wall Furnaces?
    • J
      Justin GilbertAug 12, 2025
If the pilot light on your Napoleon Wall Furnace won't ignite, start by checking if it can be lit with a match. Also, ensure the wire is securely connected to the push button ignitor and that the ignitor is properly tightened. If the wire insulation is damaged, replace the wire. If the ceramic insulator of the electrode is cracked, replace the electrode. You may also need to replace the push button ignitor. Finally, ensure the spark gap is correct by tightening the securing nut (finger tight plus 1/4 turn).

Why is carbon depositing on the glass, logs, or combustion chamber surfaces of my Napoleon GDS3700-N Wall Furnaces?
    • C
      Chase HammondAug 16, 2025
If carbon is accumulating on the glass, logs, or combustion chamber surfaces of your Napoleon Wall Furnaces, make sure the air shutter opening is free of any lint or obstructions. Verify that the logs are positioned correctly and consider opening the air shutter to increase primary airflow. Check the input rate, manifold pressure, and orifice size against the values specified on the rating plate. Ensure the door gasketing is intact and provides a tight seal and that both the 4" and 7" vent liners are free of holes and well sealed at all joints. Also, confirm that the minimum rise per foot has been adhered to for any horizontal venting.

What to do if the pilot light is burning but there's no gas to the main burner in my Napoleon GDS3700-N?
    • D
      David OrtegaAug 19, 2025
If the pilot light is on, but no gas is reaching the main burner of your Napoleon Wall Furnaces, and the gas knob and wall switch/thermostat are activated, first, check if the propane tank is empty and fill it if necessary. Purge the gas line to eliminate any air. Try turning up the pilot flame or consider replacing the pilot assembly. Check the thermocouple for shorts by loosening and tightening it, and clean the thermocouple and valve connection. If needed, replace the thermocouple or valve. Remove any blockage in the orifice and ensure proper connection of components. Replace any faulty parts as needed.

Why is there no gas at the pilot burner of my Napoleon GDS3700-N Wall Furnaces?
    • J
      Jennifer MccartyAug 23, 2025
If there's no gas at the pilot burner of your Napoleon Wall Furnaces, verify that the manual valve is turned on. Inspect the pilot orifice for any blockages. If these steps don't resolve the issue, consider replacing the valve. If the problem persists, contact the gas distributor.

What to do if I smell exhaust fumes and have headaches with my Napoleon GDS3700-N Wall Furnaces?
    • C
      Cynthia WhiteAug 27, 2025
If you smell exhaust fumes in the room or are experiencing headaches while using your Napoleon Wall Furnaces, remove any blockage that may be obstructing the exhaust. Check that the chimney is installed according to the building code. Increase the fresh air supply to the room.

Why does the pilot light go out while standing on my Napoleon Wall Furnaces?
    • B
      bryanstewartAug 31, 2025
If the pilot light goes out while standing, and the main burner is in the 'OFF' position on your Napoleon Wall Furnaces, turn on all gas appliances to see if the pilot flame flutters, diminishes, or extinguishes, especially when the main burner ignites, and monitor the supply pressure. Check if the supply piping size meets code requirements and correct any undersized piping. Adjust the pilot flame higher if needed. If problems persist, consider replacing the pilot assembly, cleaning the thermopile and its connection to the valve, or shortening the wire to the correct length or gauge.

Why does the main burner go out but the pilot stays on in my Napoleon Wall Furnaces?
    • P
      patrick94Sep 3, 2025
If the main burner goes out but the pilot light stays on for your Napoleon Wall Furnaces, it could be due to several reasons. The pilot flame might not be large enough or not engulfing the thermopile sufficiently. Another possibility is a shorting thermopile. Additionally, the remote wall switch wire might be too long, causing excessive resistance in the system. If the wire is the issue, replace it.

What causes a white or grey film to form on my Napoleon Wall Furnaces?
    • N
      Nicole MartinezSep 7, 2025
If a white or grey film forms on the glass, logs, or combustion chamber surfaces of your Napoleon Wall Furnaces, it is likely due to sulphur from the fuel. Clean the glass with a recommended gas glass cleaner or a non-abrasive ammonia or vinegar-based glass cleaner. Do not clean the glass when it is hot.
