Overview

The AEOS Blue power supply 12V, model AP7021 (part number 5283507), is a Class I device designed to provide a stable 12V DC output for various applications. This installation guide, dated March 19, 2020, outlines the necessary steps for safe and proper installation, operation, and maintenance of the device.

Function Description

The primary function of the AP7021 is to convert AC mains power into a regulated 12V DC output. It serves as a power source for devices requiring a 12V DC supply, ensuring reliable operation within a specified range of environmental conditions. The device is equipped with a Power LED (internal) that illuminates green when the DC output is active, providing a visual indication of its operational status.

Important Technical Specifications

Dimensions and Weight:

  • Dimensions: 230 x 165 x 65 mm (H x W x D)
  • Weight: Approximately 820 g
  • Enclosure: PC ABS material

Electrical Specifications:

  • AC Mains Input: 230-240 VAC, 50/60 Hz, 1.2 A
  • DC Output: 13.2 VDC SELV, 4.5 A (Default output is 13.2 V, adjustable via a voltage adjuster)
  • AC Mains Input Wiring: 3 x 0.75 mm², earth connection, maximum 2 m
  • DC Output Wiring: 2 x 0.5 mm² shielded, maximum 5 m

Environmental Conditions:

  • Operation Temperature Range: 0°C to 40°C
  • Storage Temperature Range: -30°C to 65°C
  • Relative Humidity: 20% to 90% (non-condensing)

Certifications: The AP7021 is tested and conforms with essential requirements of:

  • Electromagnetic Compatibility Directive 2004/108/EC: EN50130-4 (2011), EN55022 (2010) + AC(2011)
  • Low Voltage Directive 2006/95/EG: EN60950-1 (2006) + A11(2009) + A1(2010) + A12(2011) + AC(2011) + A2(2013)

Usage Features

Installation: The device can be mounted using a DIN rail 35 x 7.5 mm or by drilling three Ø5 mm holes according to the provided drill pattern (120 mm horizontal spacing, 113.5 mm vertical spacing, with the top two holes 12.5 mm from the top edge). Preferred screws are 4.8 x 32 mm (DIN7981).

Wiring:

  • DC Output (Step 1): Remove the protection cover from the terminals before wiring. Connect 2 x 0.5 mm² shielded wires, maximum 5 m. The default output is 13.2 V.
  • Shield & Earth (Step 2): Connect the shield and earth wire at the same terminal simultaneously. The protective earth wire should be the last to disconnect in case of an inadvertent pull on the power cord.
  • AC Mains Input (Step 3): Ensure the AC mains (230-240 VAC) is NOT connected during this step. Connect 3 x 0.75 mm² wires for live (brown), neutral (blue), and earth connection, maximum 2 m. Conductors connected to screw terminals must be fitted with a ring, crimped lugs, etc., to ensure secure connections.
  • Strain Relief & Cover (Step 4): Secure all cables properly using the available provisions and place the protection cover back over the terminals.
  • Power ON (Step 5): Ensure the enclosure is closed before connecting the AC mains. The Power LED will illuminate green when the DC output is active.

Voltage Adjustment: The DC output can be adjusted using the voltage adjuster if powered devices are not working properly and the default 13.2 V output needs fine-tuning.

Maintenance Features

Safety Precautions:

  • Qualified Personnel: This equipment should only be installed, operated, serviced, and repaired by qualified personnel familiar with applicable standards and codes.
  • Power Supply Matching: Ensure the source voltage matches the power supply's voltage before turning ON the power.
  • Power Cord and Plug: Use a maximum 4.5 m long, rated minimum 250 V, 10 A, Type SJT flexible cord with a 10 A, 240 V 3-pole grounding attachment plug (CE approved). The socket-outlet must be near the equipment and easily accessible.
  • Fixed Power Connection: If connected to fixed mains, a disconnect from mains must be available near the equipment.
  • Protective Grounding: The protective grounding terminal must be connected to ground to prevent electric shock before powering ON.
  • Fuse Replacement: For continued protection against fire, replace fuses only with the same type and rating. Turn off power and disconnect the power source before replacing fuses. Do not use a different fuse or short-circuit the fuse holder.
  • Flammable Materials: Do not operate the equipment near flammable liquids or vapors.
  • Opening Covers: Do not open the top cover when active due to lethal voltages. Always disconnect from mains supply and ensure safety before maintenance.
  • No Modification: Do not modify or add anything to the equipment other than what is mentioned in this installation guide or indicated by NEDAP NV.

Troubleshooting: If powered devices are not working properly, check if the DC output is 13.2 V. The DC output can be adjusted with the voltage adjuster. Failure to comply with wiring specifications may result in malfunction and/or dangerous situations.
