Cordless Pulsatile Nasal Wash
The NeilMed
®
Sinugator
®
cordless Pulsating
Nasal Wash
is an easy to use system that
allows you to deliver the saline solution
with positive and pulsatile pressure to
clean the nasal passages thoroughly.
Step 1: Please wash your hands. Fill the clear
blue reservoir with 240 mL (8 oz) volume of
lukewarm, distilled, micro-ltered (0.2 micron)
or previously boiled and cooled down water.
Step 2: Cut the SINUS RINSE
mixture
packet at the corner and pour its contents
into the blue reservoir of the Sinugator
®
.
Place the white motor unit over the blue
reservoir and rotate until locked. Swirl the
unit thoroughly to dissolve the mixture.
Step 3: Standing in front of a sink, bend
forward to your comfort level and tilt your
head down. Keeping your mouth open,
without holding your breath, place the tip
snugly against your right nasal passage
or nostril. Press the blue power button
until the solution starts draining from
your left nasal passage. Depending on
the head position, residual solution may
drain from your mouth. We suggest to
spit it out, however, there is no harm, if
accidentally swallowed. For a proper
rinse, keep pressing the power button
until at least 1/4 to 1/2 (60 mL to 120
mL or 2 to 4 oz) of the solution is used
for one nostril. Stop pressing the power
button if you feel any discomfort, pain
or pressure during the irrigation.
Step 4: Blow your nose very gently,
without pinching nose completely
to avoid pressure on eardrums. If
tolerable, sniff in
gently any residual
solution remaining
in the nasal
passage once or
twice, because
this may clean
out the posterior nasopharyngeal area,
which is the area at the back of your nasal
passage.
Step 5: Now repeat steps 3 and 4 for
ushing your left nasal passage or nostril.
Cleaning Directions: Clean the
Sinugator
®
by running plain water and dry
with a clean lint free towel and then air dry the unit by
keeping it open to the air. The nasal irrigator tip, blue
reservoir and white soft tube can be disinfected by
placing in the home microwave for 60 seconds. (Read
additional details in enclosed brochure.) Clean the
entire unit with a few drops of dishwashing liquid and
water every three days to keep the unit clean. Please
make sure to run enough water during each wash so
no soap is left behind
Directions for Assembly:

Overview

The NeilMed® SinuGator® Cordless Pulsatile Nasal Wash is an innovative system designed for thorough cleaning of nasal passages using a saline solution with positive and pulsatile pressure. This device is specifically engineered for sinus rinsing and should not be used for any other purpose.

Function Description

The SinuGator® operates by delivering a saline solution into the nasal passages with a pulsatile action, which helps to effectively clear mucus, allergens, and other irritants. It utilizes a mixture packet, typically NeilMed® SINUS RINSE™ sachets, dissolved in water to create the saline solution. The device is cordless, powered by batteries, and features a blue power button to initiate the pulsatile flow. The design allows for the solution to enter one nostril and drain from the other, ensuring a comprehensive rinse of the nasal cavity. The pulsatile action is gentle yet effective, aiming to provide a comfortable and thorough cleaning experience.

Usage Features

Preparation:

  1. Hand Washing: Always wash hands thoroughly before using the device.
  2. Water Preparation: Fill the clear blue reservoir with 240 mL (8 fl oz) of lukewarm, distilled, micro-filtered (0.2 micron), or previously boiled and cooled down water. It is crucial to use only these types of water to avoid potential contamination or discomfort.
  3. Saline Mixture: Cut a SINUS RINSE™ mixture packet at the corner and pour its contents into the blue reservoir.
  4. Assembly: Place the white motor unit over the blue reservoir and rotate until it locks. Swirl the unit thoroughly to dissolve the mixture.
  5. Battery Installation: Open the battery compartment by sliding the switch to the left, lift the panel, and place three AA batteries as shown. Replace the panel and slide the switch to the right to lock.
  6. Tube and Tip Attachment: Slide the white soft tube over the white rigid tube on the bottom of the motor unit. Attach the nasal irrigator tip to the top of the motor unit.
  7. Functionality Check: Press the blue switch to ensure the unit is operating correctly before use.

Rinsing Procedure:

  1. Positioning: Stand in front of a sink, bend forward to a comfortable level, and tilt your head down. Keep your mouth open and do not hold your breath.
  2. Application: Place the tip snugly against your right nasal passage or nostril.
  3. Initiation: Press the blue power button. The solution will start draining from your left nasal passage. Depending on head position, some residual solution may drain from your mouth; it is recommended to spit it out, though accidental swallowing is not harmful.
  4. Duration: Continue pressing the power button until at least 1/4 to 1/2 (60 mL to 120 mL or 2 to 4 fl oz) of the solution is used for one nostril. Stop immediately if you experience any discomfort, pain, or pressure.
  5. Post-Rinse (First Nostril): Gently blow your nose without pinching it completely to avoid pressure on eardrums. If tolerable, gently sniff in any residual solution once or twice to clear the posterior nasopharyngeal area.
  6. Second Nostril: Repeat steps 3 and 4 for flushing your left nasal passage or nostril.

Important Usage Notes:

  • Water Quality: Never use plain tap or faucet water directly for dissolving the mixture unless it has been previously boiled and cooled down, as this can cause a severe burning sensation and potential health risks.
  • Nasal Obstruction: Do not rinse if your nasal passages are completely blocked.
  • Ear Issues: Avoid use if you have an ear infection or blocked ears. If you have had recent ear or sinus surgery, consult your physician before use.
  • Discomfort: If you experience pressure in the ears or burning in the nasal passages, stop irrigation and seek medical advice.
  • Children: Keep out of reach of children.
  • Delayed Drainage: In some cases, especially after sinus surgery, saline solution can pool and drain hours later. To minimize this, after rinsing, lean forward, tilt your head sideways, and gently blow your nose. Repeat on the other side. This helps clear excess mucus and solution. Avoid rinsing right before leaving your house or going to bed if you frequently experience delayed drainage.

Maintenance Features

Cleaning Directions:

  1. Daily Cleaning: After each use, clean the SinuGator® by running plain water through it. Dry the unit with a clean, lint-free towel and then air dry it by keeping it open to the air.
