Do you have a question about the Neilsen CT0866 and is the answer not in the manual?

Overview

The Neilsen 600ML Spray Gun CT0866 is a tool designed for applying paint and other materials through atomization, suitable for various painting tasks. It is manufactured by Cannon Tools Limited, located at 20 Station Road, Rowley Regis, West Midlands, B65 0JU, U.K., and is made in China. The device complies with the EC Machinery Directive 2006/42/EC and harmonized standards EN ISO 12100, EN 1953, as declared by Cannon Tools Ltd on 2017-12-26.

Function Description

The spray gun operates by atomizing paint or other liquid materials using compressed air, allowing for an even and controlled application onto surfaces. It is designed for general spraying purposes, including lead-painted surfaces, wood, and metal. The gun features adjustable controls for air volume and material flow, enabling users to fine-tune the spray pattern and material output for different applications, from maximum atomization to minimum atomization for blending.

Important Technical Specifications

  • Model: CT0866
  • Product Description: Spray Gun
  • Cup Capacity: 600ml
  • Nozzle Size: 1.4mm
  • Air Inlet: 1/4"
  • Air Consumption: 170-310 l/min
  • Required Pressure: 43 - 50 Psi (maximum working pressure should not exceed 50psi)
  • Air Supply Requirements: For optimal performance, the spray gun requires connection to a compressor capable of supplying the necessary air volume. An air line with a 3/8" diameter or greater is recommended. For hoses longer than 25ft, increasing the bore size is advisable. The air supply must be controlled via a joint pressure regulator/water separator unit to ensure a constant supply of dry air and prevent rust in the equipment due to condensation.

Usage Features

The spray gun is designed for ease of use and adjustability.

  • Assembly: Before initial use, an air line coupling compatible with the compressor's trailing hose must be fitted. This involves selecting a 1/4" female thread coupling, winding PTFE tape around the thread, and screwing it onto the spray gun for an airtight union. The paint pot is connected by turning its lid anticlockwise to remove, filling with material, carefully refitting the lid, and then screwing the entire assembly into the spray gun connector. The bleed screw must be tightened to prevent paint loss.
  • Operation: The nozzle set must be mounted tightly, aligning the air nozzle so that the stamped number is readable from the front. The air hose should be blown out before attachment. The gun is treated with an anticorrosive agent from the factory and must be flushed thoroughly with thinner before use.
  • Adjustments:
    • Air Volume: The air supply can be regulated using a compressed-air micrometer. A vertical position (parallel to the gun body) provides maximum atomization, while a horizontal position (across the gun body) provides minimum atomization, suitable for blending. The hollow (item 12) should not be removed with the small hollow key during operation.
    • Material Volume: The volume of material flowing from the nozzle can be reduced steplessly by screwing in the material-volume regulation screw.
  • Safety Precautions:
    • Always work in a suitable, clean, tidy, and well-ventilated area with adequate lighting.
    • Familiarize yourself with the gun's limitations and potential hazards.
    • Disconnect the spray gun from the air supply before any maintenance, accessory changes, or servicing.
    • Wear approved safety respiratory protection, safety eye goggles, and gloves. If spraying isocyanate-based finishes, wear an approved respirator/clean air breathing apparatus, latex gloves, and an impervious hooded coverall.
    • Remove ill-fitting clothing, ties, watches, rings, and tie back long hair.
    • Keep children and unauthorized persons away from the work area.
    • Do not point the spray gun or direct air from the hose at yourself, other persons, or animals.
    • Do not carry the spray gun by the hose or yank the hose from the air supply.
    • Do not use the spray gun for purposes other than its design.
    • Do not allow untrained persons to operate the gun.
    • Avoid getting the spray gun wet or using it in damp/wet locations or areas with condensation.
    • Do not operate the spray gun if any parts are missing or damaged.
    • Ensure the air supply is turned off when not in use.
    • Avoid unintentional operation.

Maintenance Features

Regular maintenance is crucial for the spray gun's performance and longevity.

  • Cleaning:
    • Flush the material-conveying parts of the gun thoroughly with thinner after each use.
    • Clean the air nozzle with a paint brush or brush. Do not immerse the nozzle in thinner.
    • Never attempt to clean clogged orifices with unsuitable tools, as even slight damage can impair performance.
    • After use, disconnect the spray gun from the air supply, clean it thoroughly, and store it safely.
  • Part Replacement:
    • Maintain the spray gun in good condition and use an authorized service agent for repairs.
    • Replace or repair damaged parts using only authorized parts to avoid danger and invalidating the warranty.
    • Changing the Nozzle Set: Always change the complete nozzle set (air cap, fluid nozzle, and paint needle) together when changing nozzle size. Insert the paint nozzle before the paint needle.
    • Exchanging Air Piston and Packing: To replace the air piston, remove the hollow screw and detach the air micrometer. Pull out the spring and air piston, then exchange the air piston. Unscrew the stuffing box screw, remove the old packing, insert new packing with the flat end first, and gently tighten the stuffing box screw.
  • Troubleshooting: The manual provides a troubleshooting guide for common issues such as leaks from the fluid tip, paint merging from the needle sealing, sickle-shaped spray patterns, drop-like or oval patterns, paint spray flutters, and material bubbles in the paint cup. Suggested remedies include cleaning parts with thinner, replacing seals or parts, tightening connections, and adjusting the air nozzle.
  • Disposal: At the end of its working life, the product must be disposed of according to national regulations. It should not be abandoned in the environment. Users should also read the literature supplied with the paint to ensure compatibility with the equipment.
