Usage Features:
- Function/Range Switch: Used to select the desired measurement function and range, and to turn the meter on/off (OFF position).
- RANGE Button: Toggles between autorange (indicated by "AUTO") and manual range modes. In manual mode, each press increments the range. Holding the button for 2 seconds returns to autorange.
- FUNC. Button: Switches between different sub-functions within a mode (e.g., °C/°F for temperature, diode/continuity for diode mode).
- MAX H Button: Activates Maximum Value Hold, displaying the highest reading since activation. Press again to exit.
- DATA H Button: Activates Data Hold, freezing the current reading on the display. Press again to exit.
- Backlight Button: Press and hold for 2 seconds to turn the backlight on/off. It automatically turns off after 15 seconds.
- Automatic Power-Off: The meter automatically turns off after about 15 minutes of inactivity to conserve battery life. Five short beeps are emitted before shutdown, followed by a long beep. Rotating the function/range switch or pressing any button will re-activate the meter. If DATA H is active, auto power-off is disabled.
- Always inspect the meter and test leads for damage before use.
- Do not use the meter if it operates abnormally or in explosive environments.
- Do not apply voltage exceeding the meter's rated limits.
- Exercise caution when working with voltages above 30V AC rms, 42V peak, or 60V DC, as these pose a shock hazard.
- Always connect the common (black) test lead first and disconnect the live (red) test lead first.
- Remove test leads before opening the battery cover or meter case.
- Replace batteries when the low battery indicator appears to avoid false readings.
- Do not touch live circuit elements.
- For resistance, diode, continuity, and temperature measurements, disconnect circuit power and discharge all capacitors first.
- Ensure proper function and range selection for measurements.
- Disconnect test leads and remove the clamp jaw from the circuit before changing functions or ranges.
Maintenance Features:
- Cleaning: Periodically wipe the case with a damp cloth and mild detergent. Do not use abrasives or solvents.
- Terminal Cleaning: Turn the meter off, remove test leads, shake out any dirt, and clean terminals with an alcohol-soaked swab.
- Battery Replacement: When the low battery indicator appears, replace the 2 x 1.5V AAA batteries. Use an appropriate screwdriver to gently rotate the rotary lock on the battery cover 90 degrees counter-clockwise to open, replace batteries, and then rotate 90 degrees clockwise to secure. Avoid excessive force to prevent damage.
