If it overheats, the vacuum sealer will automatically shut off; allow it to cool down for 15 minutes before trying again. Also, inspect the power cord and plug for any signs of damage. Do not use the vacuum sealer if the cord is damaged.

Inspect the seal bar and gaskets for any debris or misplacement; wipe them clean and smooth them back into their correct positions. The vacuum sealer bag may also have a leak. To test, seal the bag with some air inside, submerge it in water, and apply pressure. If bubbles appear, the bag has a leak; either reseal it or use a new bag.
