This document describes the NewAir AB-1200B 126-Can Beverage Cooler, a freestanding unit designed for cooling beverages.
Function Description:
The NewAir AB-1200B is a beverage cooler designed to store and cool up to 126 standard beverage cans. It functions as a freestanding unit, meaning it should not be built into surrounding cabinetry and requires proper air clearance for optimal performance. The cooler maintains a temperature range suitable for beverages, from 37°F to 65°F (3°C to 18°C). It features a mechanical temperature control panel, an interior LED light, and a lock for security. The unit is intended for household use and should not be used for commercial or industrial applications. It is crucial to allow the unit to stand upright for approximately 2 hours before connecting it to a power source to prevent cooling system malfunctions during transportation.

Usage Features:
The AB-1200B beverage cooler offers several features for convenient and efficient use:
- Temperature Adjustment: The unit is equipped with a mechanical thermostat that allows users to set the desired temperature within its operating range of 37°F to 65°F (3°C to 18°C). The temperature scale runs from 1 (warmest setting) to 7 (coldest setting). A "0" position serves as an OFF setting when the cooler is empty. It is advised to avoid setting the thermostat too high, as this may prevent the cooler from achieving satisfactory cooling temperatures.
- Interior LED Light: An interior LED light is included, which can be controlled by a dedicated light switch, enhancing visibility of the stored beverages.
- Security Lock: The cooler comes with a lock, providing an added layer of security for its contents.
- Optimizing Performance: To ensure maximum performance and efficiency, the cooler should be placed in an area with proper air circulation, adhering to the recommended clearances. Overfilling the cooler should be avoided to allow for proper internal air circulation. Beverages should be kept away from the rear wall, and shelves should not be packed too tightly to facilitate the free circulation of cold air. The unit should not be placed in direct sunlight or near heat sources like stoves, heaters, or radiators, as direct sunlight can affect the acrylic coating and heat sources can increase electrical consumption. Extreme ambient temperatures can also hinder performance. It is not recommended to place heated beverages or perishable food in the cooler, as the internal temperature may not be low enough to prevent spoilage. Heavy objects should not be placed on top of the cooler.
- Initial Setup: Before first use, the interior surface should be cleaned with lukewarm water and a soft cloth. The cooler must be placed on a level surface strong enough to support it when fully loaded; the front feet can be adjusted for leveling. After plugging in, the unit should run for at least 30 minutes without any temperature adjustments to stabilize.
Maintenance Features:
Regular cleaning and maintenance are essential for the longevity and efficient operation of the NewAir AB-1200B beverage cooler:
- Cleaning Your Cooler:
- Always unplug the cooler and remove all contents before cleaning.
- The interior should be washed with a solution of warm water and a neutral detergent; abrasive cleaners should not be used.
- The door seal should be cleaned with mild, soapy water.
- For efficient operation, the back and bottom of the cooler should also be thoroughly cleaned.
- The exterior can be cleaned with a mild detergent and warm water.
- Defrosting Your Cooler:
- To prevent ice buildup, occasional defrosting may be necessary. This can be done by turning the temperature control to #4 or #5, waiting 30 to 60 minutes, and then returning the control knob to #1 or #2.
- If excessive frost buildup occurs, unplug the cooler and allow the frost to melt. A plastic utensil can be used to scrape ice from the interior surface if needed. Ensure the unit is thoroughly dried before plugging it back in.
- Moving Your Cooler:
- Before moving, remove all stored items.
- Securely tape down any loose parts inside the unit.
- Turn the leveling feet up to the base to prevent damage.
- Tape the door shut.
- Ensure the cooler remains in an upright position during transportation.
- Shock Hazard: Electrical grounding is required. Never attempt repairs or maintenance without disconnecting power. Do not remove the grounding prong or use a two-prong adapter. Altering the power cord or direct wiring can cause serious injury, fire, and void the warranty. Never use an extension cord. Avoid operating in excessively moist or humid environments.
- Important Precautions: Do not lift by the door handle. Do not install or operate inside closed cabinets. Clean the condenser every six months to prevent malfunction. Allow 24 hours for temperature stabilization before use. Do not block internal fans. Keep away from hazardous or combustible substances. Use only genuine supplier replacement parts.
- Child Entrapment Risk: To prevent child entrapment, do not allow children to operate, play with, or crawl inside the unit. If the unit is unused for an extended period, remove the door and leave shelves in place. Remove the door when disposing of the unit.
Troubleshooting:
The manual provides a troubleshooting guide for common issues such as the cooler not cooling, not being cold enough, making too much noise, an interior red light flashing, or frost buildup. Solutions typically involve checking voltage, resetting circuit breakers, adjusting temperature settings, ensuring proper ventilation and clearances, checking door seals, and manually defrosting.
Limited Manufacturer's Warranty:
The NewAir AB-1200B comes with a limited manufacturer's warranty for one year from the original date of purchase. The manufacturer will repair or replace defective parts due to material or workmanship flaws under normal operating conditions. The warranty excludes damages from power failure, transit, improper power supply, accidents, alterations, misuse, commercial use, external forces, or user wear.
