Overview

The DYMO LetraTag® 100H is a portable label maker designed for creating a wide variety of high-quality, self-adhesive labels for personal and professional use. It utilizes DYMO LetraTag (LT) 12 mm label cassettes, which are available in multiple colors of plastic tape and white iron-on tape.

Function Description:

The LetraTag 100H allows users to input text, format it with various font sizes and styles, add symbols, special characters, and even create two-line labels. It features a graphical LCD display that shows formatting instantly, including italics and borders, as they are applied to the text. The device is powered by standard batteries and includes an auto-off feature to conserve power after two minutes of inactivity. The last created label and previously selected style settings are remembered when the power is turned back on.

Important Technical Specifications:

  • Label Cassettes: Uses DYMO LetraTag (LT) 12 mm label cassettes.
  • Power: 6V DC, powered by 4 AA 1.5V DC alkaline batteries (not included).
  • Display: LCD display, showing a portion of up to 100 characters and spaces.
  • Memory: Stores up to nine frequently used label texts.
  • Character Set: Supports extended Latin character set using RACE technology for international characters.
  • Auto-off: Automatically turns off after two minutes of inactivity.

Usage Features:

  • Getting Started:

    • Battery Insertion: Requires four high-capacity AA alkaline batteries. Safety precautions include not mixing old and new batteries, not mixing different battery types (alkaline, standard, rechargeable), and removing batteries if not used for a long period.
    • Label Cassette Insertion: The label cassette is inserted between the print head and pinch roller until it clicks into place.
    • Language Selection: Upon first power-on, users are prompted to select a language (default is English). The chosen language determines the character set and date format.
    • Date and Time Setting: Allows setting the current date and time, which is used for automatic date insertion on labels. Date and time formats vary based on the selected language (e.g., MMM DD, YY and 12-hour for US English; DD MMM YY and 24-hour for other languages).
    • Printing First Label: Simple text entry followed by pressing the PRINT button and then the cutter button to cut the label.
  • Keyboard and Navigation:

    • Power Button: Turns the device on/off.
    • LCD Display: Shows entered text, formatting, and feature indicators (font size, number of lines, CAPS, Num Lock).
    • CAPS Mode: Toggled by the CAPS key. When on, all letters are capitalized; default is on.
    • Num Lock: Toggled by the 1,2,3 key. Provides access to numbers 1-0 on A-J keys; default is off.
    • Backspace: Removes the character to the left of the cursor.
    • Clear: Clears all label text and formatting.
    • Navigation Keys: Left/right arrows for reviewing/editing labels, up/down arrows for menu selections.
    • Cancel: Exits a menu without selection or cancels an action.
    • Format: Accesses submenus for font size, style, and borders.
    • Insert: Accesses submenus for symbols, second line, or date.
    • Settings: Accesses submenus for Preview, Set Date, Language, and Set Print Contrast.
  • Formatting Labels:

    • Font Size: Five sizes available: Extra Small, Small, Medium, Large, Extra Large. Applies to all characters on a label.
    • Font Styles: Six styles: Normal, Bold, Italic, Outline, Shadow, Vertical. Applies to all characters and some symbols.
    • Two-Line Labels: Supports a maximum of two lines. A multi-line symbol is inserted at the end of the first line but does not print.
    • Adding Date: Inserts the current date in the format determined by the selected language.
    • Box and Underline Styles: Offers various box styles (Underline, Edged, Square, Train, Pointed, Sweet Hearts, Rounded, Flowers, Crocodile) and an underline option. A label can be underlined or enclosed in a box, but not both. For two-line labels, both lines are underlined, or all lines are enclosed in one box.
  • Symbols and Special Characters:

    • Adding Symbols: Provides an extended symbol set. Users navigate through rows and columns of symbols to select and insert them.
    • Adding International Characters: Uses RACE technology, similar to mobile phone keypads. Holding down a letter key scrolls through variations of that letter (e.g., 'a' for à, â, æ). The variations and order depend on the selected language.
  • Printing Options:

    • Previewing Labels: Allows previewing the text and format before printing. Two-line labels are previewed as a single line with a line break character.
    • Adjusting Print Contrast: Fine-tunes print quality by adjusting contrast settings.
  • Labelmaker Memory:

    • Storing Label Text: Stores up to nine frequently used label texts. Users can select a memory location to save the current label text.
    • Recalling Stored Labels: Easily recalls stored labels from memory for later use. Memory fields can be cleared after recalling a label.

Maintenance Features:

  • Cutter Blade Cleaning: Recommended each time the label cassette is replaced. Involves removing the cassette, pressing down a black post with a pen/pencil, holding the cutter lever to expose the blade, and cleaning both sides of the blade with a cotton ball and alcohol. Caution: Cutter blade is extremely sharp.
  • Print Head Cleaning: Requires a special cleaning tool (obtained from Customer Support). Involves removing the label cassette and gently wiping the padded side of the cleaning tool across the print head. Some older models may have the tool stored in the label compartment cover.

Troubleshooting:

The manual provides solutions for common issues:

  • No display: Ensure power is on, replace discharged batteries.
  • Poor Print Quality: Replace discharged batteries, ensure cassette is installed properly, clean print head, replace label cassette.
  • Poor Cutter Performance: Clean the cutter blade.
  • Printing (message): No action needed, message disappears after printing.
  • Too many characters: Delete some text.
  • Battery low: Replace batteries.
  • Tape Jam: Remove jammed label, replace cassette, clean cutter blade. For further assistance, users are directed to DYMO Customer Support.

General Safety Precautions:

  • DYMO Label Cassettes: Use only DYMO-branded LT cassettes. Do not use unauthorized accessories/supplies. Clean surfaces before applying labels for proper adhesion. Do not expose labels to extreme heat or sunlight.
