Why is my Newman Stove fire difficult to start or keeps going out?
    • M
      Marie SpenceAug 1, 2025
The difficulty in starting or maintaining a fire in your Newman Stove can be due to several reasons: the wood being used is green, too damp, or of poor quality; the logs are too large; there's air starvation; or there's insufficient draught. To resolve this, use the recommended fuel, and light the fire with small, very dry twigs, maintaining it with split logs. Ensure you open the lower spin wheel and top air control lever. Also, check the flue for any obstructions and sweep if necessary.

      rdominguezAug 6, 2025
If your Newman Stove smokes when lighting up, it's likely due to a cold flue duct or room decompression. To address this, burn paper and kindling wood to increase heat. If your house has mechanical ventilation, open a window until the fire is well established.

Why does my Newman VISTA Stove fire burn too quickly?
    • T
      Tracy DavisAug 13, 2025
A fire that burns too quickly in your Newman Stove is often caused by too much draught, excessive draw, or poor-quality wood. To mitigate this, ensure the lower spin wheel is closed and partially close the top air control lever. It is also recommended not to continuously burn small wood, sticks, bundles, or carpentry off cuts.

If your Newman Stove smokes while burning, the cause may be insufficient ventilation, down draught, or room decompression. Check that the flue is not obstructed and sweep if necessary. In houses equipped with Mechanical Ventilation, an outside air intake must be installed for the chimney.
