Overview

This document describes the Nextech Wireless Driveway & Entry PIR Alert Kit (LA5178), a security system designed to detect movement and alert users.

Function Description

The system utilizes a professional wireless transmitting and receiving module with a learning code for easy and convenient operation. It consists of two main units: an Outdoor Unit and an Indoor Unit.

The Outdoor Unit acts as a passive infrared (PIR) sensor. When this unit detects thermal infrared signals, such as those emitted by a moving person, it wirelessly transmits signals to the Indoor Unit.

The Indoor Unit receives these wireless signals and responds by emitting a "ding-dong, ding-dong" sound and flashing its LEDs twice, serving as a warning or alert.

Important Technical Specifications

Wireless Frequency: 433MHz Digital Wireless Range: Up to 50m Alarm Sound Level: 80-100dB PIR Angle: 90° PIR Range: Up to 6m

Batteries:

  • Transmitter (Outdoor Unit): 3 x AA batteries
  • Receiver (Indoor Unit): 3 x AA batteries

IP Rating:

  • Transmitter (Outdoor Unit): IP44 (indicating protection against solid objects larger than 1mm and splashing water from any direction)

Dimensions:

  • Transmitter (Outdoor Unit): 122(H) x 62(W) x 40(D)mm
  • Receiver (Indoor Unit): 130(H) x 70(W) x 26(D)mm

Usage Features

The Indoor Unit features two switches for user control:

  • ON/OFF Switch: This switch allows the user to turn the Indoor Unit on or off.
  • HI/LO Switch: This switch adjusts the volume of the chime sound between a high (HI) volume and a low (LO) volume.

Code Learning: To link the Outdoor Unit with the Indoor Unit:

  1. Insert batteries into the Indoor Unit. It will emit a "ding-dong" sound and flash once to confirm battery installation.
  2. Press the Coding button located at the back of the Indoor Unit.
  3. Insert batteries into the Outdoor Unit. The Outdoor Unit will emit a red light and send out wireless signals.
  4. Upon receiving these signals, the Indoor Unit will emit a "ding-dong" sound and flash its light, indicating successful code learning.

Code Clearing: To clear learned codes:

  1. Press and hold the coding button on the Indoor Unit.
  2. While holding the button, power on the Indoor Unit.
  3. Continue holding the button for 11 seconds until you hear a single "DI" tone. Release the button.
  4. After an additional 4 seconds, you will hear a "Di Di Di DingDong" tone, confirming that the codes have been successfully cleared.

Maintenance Features

Low Voltage Indication:

  • Indoor Unit: If the battery voltage drops below 3.3V, the LED light on the Indoor Unit will remain constantly on.
  • Outdoor Unit: Similarly, if the battery voltage in the Outdoor Unit falls below 3.3V, its LED light will also remain constantly on.

Battery Replacement: When the low voltage indication is active, it is crucial to replace the batteries as soon as possible. This prevents any potential disruption or effect on the device's operation. The indicator light will turn off once the power source is completely depleted.
