The Supershine Straightener utilizes ceramic ionic plates to straighten hair, while incorporating ionic technology and a steam function to enhance hair condition and reduce frizz. The ionic technology generates negative ions, which are believed to neutralize positive ions in the hair, thereby minimizing static electricity and leaving hair soft and shiny. The steam function, supplied by a refillable water reservoir, adds moisture to the hair during styling, preventing over-drying and promoting a smoother finish. The straightener offers multiple heat settings, allowing users to select the most appropriate temperature for their hair type, from fine to very thick. An integrated heat setting display provides clear visual feedback on the chosen temperature. For safety and convenience, the device includes an on/off button, temperature increase and decrease buttons, and a temperature lock button to prevent accidental changes during use. A storage lock is also provided to keep the plates closed when not in use, protecting them and making storage more compact. The swivel cord enhances maneuverability during styling, reducing tangles and improving ease of use.
Before using the straightener, it is crucial to prepare the device and your hair. First, remove all packaging and inspect the unit for any visual damage. If any damage is found, do not use the straightener and contact customer services. Ensure the straightener is unplugged before filling the water reservoir. To fill the reservoir, locate it on the underside of the straightener, push the release button, lift it out, and open the plastic stopper. Use the provided small bottle to carefully pour clean water into the large hole, then securely close the stopper and replace the reservoir, ensuring it clips firmly into place. If you are in a hard water area, using bottled water is recommended for optimal performance. Before plugging in, remove the water reservoir and push the steam button several times to release any air locks from the steam system.
Ensure your hands are dry and your hair is completely dry and tangle-free. Also, check that there is no moisture on the appliance or the plug. Plug the unit into a suitable mains supply and switch it on by pressing and holding the on/off button for approximately 2 seconds. The LED for heat setting 3 will flash, indicating the straightener is heating up. Once the desired temperature is reached, the LED will stop flashing and remain lit. While heating, ensure the arms of the straightener are fully open and placed on a solid, flat, stable, heat-resistant surface. Do not place it on soft or uneven surfaces, and never cover it. Select the appropriate heat setting for your hair type using the temperature increase (+) and decrease (-) buttons. To lock the temperature setting, press and hold the temperature lock button for 2 seconds; the button will illuminate until unlocked.
To begin straightening, separate a section of hair approximately 5cm in width and smooth it with a brush. Place this section between the ceramic plates and close them, taking care not to touch the hot plates with your fingertips. Hold the straightener in place until the hair section is fully heated, which should be almost instantaneous. Then, carefully slide the plates down to the ends of your hair in one smooth movement, keeping the hair taut. Work slowly to maximize the ionic steam conditioning benefits. The straightener will automatically release a gentle stream of steam during use, which may be visible as it passes through your hair. If you do not hear steam generation after priming, unplug the straightener, remove and replace the water reservoir to release any air bubbles. After use, switch off and unplug the straightener immediately. Always allow it to cool completely on a heat-proof mat before storing.
The straightener is equipped with a safety auto shut-off feature. If the unit is not used and no controls are touched for approximately 1 hour, it will automatically switch off. To restart, press and hold the on/off button for about 2 seconds.
To maintain optimal performance, regular cleaning and maintenance are necessary. First, switch off the straightener, unplug it from the mains, and allow it to cool fully. Discharge any residual charge by pressing the On switch to the On position before returning to Off. Wipe the casing with a soft, damp cloth. A very small amount of washing-up liquid may be used on the outer case only. DO NOT immerse the unit in water or any liquid. DO NOT use any harsh abrasives or cleaners, as these will damage the appliance. NEVER ATTEMPT TO CLEAN THE STRAIGHTENER BY INSERTING AN IMPLEMENT. If you have long hair or use large amounts of styling products, clean the plates regularly, ideally once a month.
For storage, ensure your straightener is completely cool and dry. Do not wrap the supply cord around the straightener. Ensure the plates are sufficiently cooled before engaging the storage lock. To use the storage lock, close the straightener and twist the locking ring to the position. To open, twist the locking ring to the position. Store your straightener in a cool, dry, safe place out of the reach of children.
In case of overheating, the straightener will stop working. If this occurs, unplug the straightener, allow it to cool completely, clean the plates, and then plug it in and use normally. If the straightener continues to overheat, unplug it and contact customer services.
This appliance is designed for BS Plug outlets only. While it can be used with a suitable adapter, the plug should never be removed or changed for a different type. Any physical alteration to the plug beyond changing the fuse will void the warranty. If the fuse in a moulded plug needs changing, the fuse cover must be refitted, and the appliance should not be used without it. The symbol on the device indicates it is a Class II appliance, meaning an earth connection is not required.
