  The monitor on your Nikon Digital Camera may be blank because the camera is off, the battery is exhausted. Also, it might be in standby mode for saving power. To exit standby mode, press the power switch, shutter-release button or c button, or rotate the mode dial. Check if the camera and computer are connected via USB cable, or if the camera and TV are connected via audio/video cable or HDMI cable. The camera may also be in interval timer shooting mode.

If you turn off the camera and turn it on again while it is connected to the computer or printer, open the monitor and press the power switch.

Ensure the subject is within the flash range. Adjust exposure compensation and raise the ISO sensitivity. If the subject is backlit, raise the flash and set the scene mode to Backlighting with HDR set to Off, or set the flash mode to m (fill flash). Check if On is selected for Built-in ND filter in the shooting menu.

If the flash mode icon is flashing, the flash is charging. When using the Speedlight, ensure the group setting is set to Group A and the channel of the flash unit to 3 CH. When the camera is in playback mode, press the c button or shutter-release button. If menus are displayed, press the d button.

  If the date and time of recording are not correct on your Nikon Digital Camera: - If the camera clock hasn't been set (“Date not set” indicator flashes during shooting), still pictures have a time stamp of “00/00/0000 00:00” and movies are dated “01/01/12 00:00.” Set the correct date and time using Time zone and date in the setup menu. - The camera clock isn't as accurate as a normal clock. Check it regularly against more accurate timepieces and reset as needed.
