Overview

This document describes the NITCHI Electric Chain Hoist, including EC4, ECT4, and ECC4 models, as well as EET6, EGT5, and EPT5 trolleys. It serves as an operating and maintenance booklet, emphasizing safety and proper usage.

Function Description

The NITCHI Electric Chain Hoist is designed for vertically lifting and lowering loads, and, when combined with a trolley, for horizontal transportation. Operation is performed via a pendant push-button switch. The hoist is equipped with a friction clutch mechanism that allows the motor to run idle when overloaded, preventing damage. An emergency stop button is also integrated into the pendant control for immediate cessation of operation in critical situations.

Important Technical Specifications

The hoists and trolleys are designed for specific operating conditions:

  • Power Source: As specified on the nameplate of the electric chain hoist and motorized trolley.
  • Trolley Beam: Must be used only on designated beams.
  • Temperature: -20°C to 40°C.
  • Humidity: Under 90%.
  • Protection: IP54 (not for use in rain or dusty environments).
  • Enclosure Status: Not for use in ambient conditions containing steam or explosive gases.

Duty Ratings (for EC4 Series):

  • Model EC4: 30 minutes
  • Model ECT4: 10/30 minutes (slow/fast)
  • Model ECC4: 15 minutes
  • Model EET6: 30 minutes

FEM Group:

  • Models EC4, EET6: 1 Am
  • Models ECT4, ECC4: 1 Bm

Load Chain Specifications (Examples):

  • 250kg, 300kg, 500kg, 1tw models: Chain dia. Ø 6.3 mm, Standard p 19.1 mm, Limit 10 links 196 mm.
  • 1t - 2t models: Chain dia. Ø 7.1 mm, Standard p 21.2 mm, Limit 10 links 218 mm.

Lifting Speeds (m/min) and Motor Output (kW) vary by model and frequency (50Hz/60Hz):

  • EC4/ECT4 250kg: Fast 8.7-10.3 m/min (0.4-0.5 kW), Slow 2.2-2.6 m/min (0.1-0.13 kW).
  • EC4/ECT4 500kg: Fast 8.6-10.0 m/min (0.9-1.1 kW), Slow 2.2-2.6 m/min (0.23-0.28 kW).
  • EC4/ECT4 1tw: Fast 4.3-5.1 m/min (0.9-1.1 kW), Slow 1.1-1.3 m/min (0.23-0.28 kW).
  • EC4/ECT4 1t: Fast 5.6-6.7 m/min (1.1-1.3 kW), Slow 1.4-1.7 m/min (0.27-0.33 kW).
  • EC4/ECT4 2t: Fast 2.8-3.3 m/min (1.1-1.3 kW), Slow 0.7-0.8 m/min (0.27-0.33 kW).
  • ECC4 300kg: 5.4-6.4 m/min (0.4 kW).
  • ECC4 500kg: 3.2-3.8 m/min (0.4 kW).
  • ECCJ4 1tw: 1.6-1.9 m/min (0.4 kW).

Hook Dimensions (H and A, in mm) and Limits:

  • 250kg/300kg/500kg: Top hook H Normal 27, Limit 25.7; Bottom hook H Normal 23, Limit 21.9.
  • 1tw/1t: Top hook H Normal 31, Limit 29.5; Bottom hook H Normal 27, Limit 25.7.
  • 2t: Top hook H Normal 35, Limit 33.3; Bottom hook H Normal 35, Limit 33.3.

Usage Features

  • Safety First: Emphasizes reading the operating instructions, understanding safety procedures, and ensuring the operator is fully familiar with the equipment.
  • Load Limits: Strictly prohibits lifting more than the rated load.
  • Personnel Safety: Never use the hoist to lift, support, or transport people, and avoid lifting loads over or near people.
  • Load Handling: Always set the load properly in the hook, confirm safety latch closure, and take up slack carefully to minimize initial lift-off shock.
  • Operational Best Practices: Use within duty rating, avoid excessive inching, ensure motor stops before reversing direction, and never leave suspended loads unattended.
  • Chain Integrity: Never use twisted, kinked, damaged, or worn chains, and do not attempt to lengthen them. The load chain should not be used as a sling or come into contact with sharp edges.
  • Electrical Safety: Do not use the chain or hook as a ground for welding, and never touch them with live welding electrodes.
  • Friction Clutch: Avoid frequent abuse of the friction clutch, as improper use can cause severe damage and injury.
  • Pendant Control: Do not pull on the pendant control cable.
  • Installation: Detailed instructions are provided for connecting the chain bucket, adjusting trolley width, and connecting the hoist to motorized, geared, or plain trolleys. Proper grounding and circuit breaker installation are mandatory.
  • Power Source Cable: Use appropriate sized tough-rubber sheathed cable, especially for long lengths or when operating hoist and motorized trolley simultaneously. Cable carriers should be installed every 1.5 meters.
  • Negative Phase Protector: The hoist is equipped with a negative phase protector. If the hoist does not function, interchanging two wires of the power source cable may correct the issue.

Maintenance Features

  • Regular Inspections: Daily, monthly, and annual inspections are crucial for a long and safe hoist lifetime. All inspections and repairs must be carried out by qualified personnel.
  • Before Use Inspection: Check load chain lubrication, ensure it's free of twists, kinks, and deformation. Inspect hooks for elongation and deformation (within limits specified in Table 9). Verify safety latches, pendant push-button switch, limit switch, and brake systems.
  • Monthly Inspection: Inspect the hoist once a month and keep records.
  • Annual Inspection: Thoroughly check all sections of the hoist once a year and keep detailed records.
  • Lubrication: Lubricate the load chain with machine oil or gear oil before use. Change grease in the gear case when disassembled (heavy-duty disulfide molybdenum grease). Add extra grease to the motorized trolley gearbox if disassembled. Paint gear teeth with cup grease.
  • Brake Adjustment: The electromagnetic brake must be adjusted only by a qualified NITCHI Service Shop or person. Power must be off, and there should be no load on the hoist during adjustment. Adjust when the load slips down 5-10 cm during testing. The permissible limits for brake lining and brake wheel are specified (e.g., lining thickness t=7mm, permissible t=6.5mm; brake wheel D=Ø72mm, permissible D=Ø71mm).
  • Friction Clutch (O.L.P.): The friction clutch is factory-adjusted and normally does not require further adjustment. Disassembly or readjustment is prohibited.
  • Load Chain Replacement: Replace the load chain if it is extensively worn or deformed, or if the 10-link measurement exceeds the specified limit.
  • Hook Replacement: Replace hooks immediately if deformation (elongation, twists, cracks) is visible, if dimension "H" has worn down more than 95%, or if dimension "A" differs from the new hook's recorded value.
  • Genuine Parts: Always use genuine NITCHI parts and chains for repairs and replacements.
  • Electrical Maintenance: Never touch live electrical parts. Only authorized NITCHI Service Shops should adjust the friction clutch.
