2.3 SERVERS PAGE
Press the Menu key to activate the Servers page.
1. Select Mail account type (POP3 or IMAP4). This defines the mail protocol your mailbox
service provider recommends. If you are allowed to choose between these two protocols,
you should select IMAP if you are working with multiple folders and receive a lot of
attachments, and POP if you have a single incoming mail folder and receive no
attachments. POP may be slightly faster in some situations, but IMAP gives the user
more control over the mailbox and mail retrieval.
NOTE: Once you have created mail account you can not change this option
anymore. In case you have selected wrong Mail account type you have to delete
Mail account and create new one
2. Enter the Outgoing mail server IP address or host name. This is also known as the SMTP
server, sending server, or mail relay. When you are sending e-mail, your communicator
connects to this server and sends the mail. This server will then relay the mail towards
the recipient’s mail server (e.g. 123.123.123.123 or mail.server.com).
3. Enter the Incoming mail server IP address or host name. This is also known as the IMAP
or POP server (depending on the account type) or the remote mailbox server. When you
receive mail, the mail will be stored on this server. During mail retrieval, your
communicator connects to this server in order to download mail.
