began with D. Clearing your search history basically tells the NOOK to forget all the
calendar searches you have made.
The Reminder Settings category has a variety of information associated with how
your NOOK reminds you that meetings are upcoming. Notifications can be turned on
or off. If you turn it off, the other settings become unavailable, except for Default
Reminder Time. If you choose to receive Notifications, you can choose the ringtone
you want by tapping Choose Ringtone and then selecting from the available options
and tapping OK. If you choose Silent, no sound accompanies the notification.
Calendar notification can also appear (that is, pop up) on the screen, regardless if you
are reading, watching a movie, and so on. Turn this off if you want notifications to
appear only on the status bar. When you set up a meeting, it automatically has a
default reminder time: so much time before a meeting that you receive the notifica-
tion. Tap Default Reminder Time to adjust this. A new screen appears and offers a
large number of options.
You can set up multiple calendars: a work one, a home one, your exercise calendar—
whatever. Tap Calendars to Display to get a list of calendars. Select which ones you
want to appear or not appear.
Contacts Settings
The options revolve around your contacts. First, you can choose which contacts to
display. By default, all contacts display, which means whenever you interact with
your contacts (sending recommendations, emails, and so on), you see all of them. You
can choose to narrow the contacts to display by tapping the Contacts to Display
option and tapping from the results.
In Display options, you can choose how you want contact to display. The Sort List By
and the View Contact Names As options enable you to choose whether to use the
Given Name or Family Name. Tap either option and select your preference.
You can import, export, and share you contacts. To do so, tap Import/Export. Import
and Export is done using vCard files. If you have imports you would like to use,
export from whatever system you are using into the vCard or VCF format and place
on the microSC card, insert it, and come to this option. When you tap Import from
Storage, your NOOK searches the microSD card for any vCard files. When it finds it,
you are given an option to import one, multiple, or all the vCard files. (These latter
two options are available only if more than one vCard file is found.) If you tap Import
One vCard File or Import Multiple vCard Files and then tap OK, you are given the
available options. Tap the one or multiple ones you want, and tap OK.
If you have only one vCard file on the microSD card, it finds the file and automati-
cally adds it without any other prompting.
