This document describes the NORMANDE KL-2605 Double Door Refrigerator, which functions as both a fridge and a freezer. It is intended for household use and is not suitable for commercial or common use.
Function Description:
The NORMANDE KL-2605 is a two-door refrigerator with a separate freezer compartment (A) and fridge compartment (B). It utilizes Less Frost technology, which incorporates a wrap-around evaporator for more efficient cooling, reduced manual defrosting, and flexible storage. The appliance is designed to store food at controlled temperatures, with a thermostat that automatically regulates the internal temperature of both compartments. The freezer is suitable for long-term storage of frozen food and for making ice cubes, while the refrigerator is for fresh food storage.
Important Technical Specifications:
- Model: KL-2605
- Operating Voltage: 220-240 V at 50Hz.
- Refrigerant: R600a (environmentally friendly natural gas, but explosive).
- Climate Class: The appliance is designed to operate within specific ambient temperature ranges:
- T: Between 16 and 43 °C
- ST: Between 16 and 38 °C
- N: Between 16 and 32 °C
- SN: Between 10 and 32 °C
- Altitude: Not intended for use at altitudes exceeding 2000 m.
- Light Bulb: Maximum 15 Watts (for models with conventional bulbs). LED lighting, if present, requires professional replacement.
- Power Cord: Must be replaced by the manufacturer, an authorized service agent, or similar qualified persons if damaged.
- Lifetime: The declared lifetime of the appliance is 10 years, with parts required for proper operation retained for this period.
Usage Features:
- Initial Setup: After transportation or first use, the fridge freezer should be kept in an upright position for at least 3 hours before plugging it in to allow for efficient operation and prevent compressor damage.
- Thermostat Setting: The thermostat knob allows users to adjust the internal temperature. Rotating the knob from position 1 to 5 increases cooling.
- Positions 1-2: For short-term storage in the freezer compartment (minimum to medium cooling).
- Positions 3-4: For long-term storage in the freezer compartment (medium cooling).
- Position 5: For freezing fresh food (appliance will run longer; return to previous setting once desired condition is reached).
- Important Note: Do not rotate the knob beyond position 1 when decreasing cooling, as this will stop the appliance.
- Temperature Adjustment Warnings:
- Not recommended for operation in environments colder than 10°C for efficiency.
- Ambient temperature, temperature of stored food, and door opening frequency affect refrigerator temperature. Adjust settings as needed.
- Consider door opening frequency, food quantity, and ambient environment when setting the thermostat.
- First Use Operation: Allow the appliance to run for 24 hours to reach operating temperature before storing large quantities of food or opening the door frequently.
- Power Cuts: Unplug the appliance during a power cut to prevent compressor damage. Delay plugging it back in for 5-10 minutes after power is restored.
- Sabbath Mode: To activate, insert the lever into the slot on top of the switch. To deactivate, gently remove the lever.
- Food Storage Guidelines:
- Refrigerator Compartment:
- Avoid placing hot food directly into the fridge; allow it to cool to room temperature first.
- Do not store liquids in unsealed containers to reduce humidity and frost formation.
- Raw meat and fish should be stored in suitable containers on the lowest shelf to prevent dripping onto other food.
- Fruits and vegetables should be stored in the crisper compartment.
- Do not store potatoes, onions, or garlic in the refrigerator.
- Freezer Compartment:
- Suitable for storing pre-frozen food, ice cream, and making ice cubes.
- Do not place hot food in the freezer.
- Follow packaging instructions for freezing and storage times.
- Do not refreeze thawed food.
- Maximum freezing capacity is indicated on the name plate.
- Store fresh food in large, flat portions for efficient freezing.
- Installation:
- Ensure the plug is accessible after installation.
- Place the fridge away from direct sunlight, stoves, gas ovens, heater cores (at least 50 cm), and electrical ovens (at least 5 cm).
- Maintain at least 2 cm between the fridge and a deep freezer to prevent humidity.
- Do not place heavy items on the appliance.
- Install the plastic distance guide (black vanes at the rear) by turning it 90° to prevent the condenser from touching the wall.
- The refrigerator should be placed against a wall with a free space not exceeding 75 mm.
- Ensure the appliance is level using the adjustable front feet.
Maintenance Features:
- Cleaning:
- Disconnect from power supply before cleaning.
- Do not clean by pouring water directly onto the appliance.
- Ensure no water enters the lamp housing or other electrical components.
- Clean periodically with a solution of bicarbonate of soda and lukewarm water.
- Clean accessories separately with soap and water; do not use a dishwasher.
- Avoid abrasive products, detergents, or soaps. Rinse with clean water and dry thoroughly.
- Reconnect the plug with dry hands after cleaning.
- Clean the condenser (at the rear) with a broom at least once a year to save energy and increase productivity.
- Defrosting:
- Refrigerator Compartment: Defrosting occurs automatically. The water collects in the evaporation tray and evaporates. The evaporation tray and drain hole should be cleaned periodically to prevent water accumulation. Pour half a glass of water down the drain hole to clean it.
- Freezer Compartment: Frost accumulation should be removed periodically using the provided plastic scraper. Do not use sharp metal objects.
- Full Defrost (Freezer):
- Set the thermostat to position 5 the day before defrosting to freeze all food completely.
- Wrap frozen food in several layers of paper and store in a cool place.
- Set the thermostat to "." or unplug the unit. Leave the door open until completely defrosted.
- To accelerate defrosting, place one or two basins of warm water in the freezer.
- Dry the interior thoroughly and set the thermostat knob to MAX position.
- Replacing the Light Bulb:
- Unplug the fridge freezer.
- Remove the cover of the box using a screwdriver.
- Replace with a bulb of maximum 15 Watts.
- Install the cover.
- Wait 5 minutes before re-plugging and bringing the thermostat to its original position.
- For LED lighting, contact authorized service personnel.
- Transportation:
- Keep original packaging and foamed polystyrene (PS) if needed.
- Secure the appliance with a strong rope or cord during transport.
- Remove or secure all loose items (shelves, crispers, etc.) with bands to prevent damage.
- Always transport the fridge in an upright position.
- Repositioning the Door: If your fridge door has a handle installed on the front surface, changing the opening direction is not possible. For models without handles, it may be possible to change the door opening direction by contacting an authorized service agent.
