Why is my North Star Water System making product water too slowly?
    • A
      Alexander HatfieldSep 9, 2025
If your North Star Water System is producing water too slowly, it could be due to a couple of reasons. First, the water supply to the system might not be within the required specifications. You may need to increase water pressure or precondition the water. Second, the prefilter or Reverse Osmosis membrane cartridges might be clogged with sediment. Try replacing the prefilter cartridge. If the rate doesn't improve, replace the postfilter cartridge and Reverse Osmosis membrane cartridge.

Why does my North Star Water Filtration System water have a strange taste or odor?
    • S
      Shawn PierceAug 23, 2025
If your North Star Water Filtration System water has an unusual taste or odor, several factors could be responsible. The postfilter might be expended, so try replacing the postfilter cartridge. If the issue persists, replace the prefilter cartridge and the Reverse Osmosis membrane cartridge. Another possibility is contamination in the product water storage tank; in this case, use sanitizing procedures and replace the prefilter and postfilter cartridges. The entire system may be contaminated, so sanitize the entire system.

What to do if my North Star NSRO42C4 faucet airgap is leaking?
    • L
      Lori SmithAug 25, 2025
If water is leaking from the airgap hole of your North Star Water Filtration System faucet, it's likely that the drain side of the faucet airgap (the 3/8” black tubing) is either plugged, restricted, or incorrectly connected to the drain point. Inspect the tubing and eliminate any restrictions or plugs. Also, verify that the drain line is properly routed.

Why does my North Star Water Filtration System water taste like chlorine?
    • M
      marcus88Aug 26, 2025
If you notice a chlorine taste or odor in the product water from your North Star Water Filtration System, it could be due to two reasons. First, the chlorine level in your water supply might be too high (exceeding 2.0 ppm), damaging the Reverse Osmosis membrane. If this is the case, you will need additional filtering before the Reverse Osmosis system. Contact your local water supplier to correct this issue before maintaining the system. Second, the prefilter may no longer be effectively removing chlorine. In this case, replace the prefilter, postfilter, and Reverse Osmosis membrane cartridges.

What to do if TDS is high in North Star NSRO42C4 Water Filtration Systems?
    • M
      Michael JohnsonAug 28, 2025
If you find a high level of total dissolved solids (TDS) in the product water from your North Star Water Filtration System, there are a couple of things to check. The water supply to the reverse osmosis system may not be within the proper specifications, so increase the water pressure or precondition the water as needed. It is also important to test both the treated and untreated water to determine system performance. If the TDS is not within the system’s performance guidelines, replace the prefilter, post filter and RO membrane cartridges. Another potential cause is a plugged drain flow control insert, which would need to be replaced.

How to speed up water production in North Star NSRO42C4 Water Filtration Systems?
    • K
      Krystal ButlerAug 29, 2025
If your North Star Water Filtration System is producing water too slowly, it might be because the water supply isn't within the system's specifications, so increase the water pressure or precondition the water as needed. Another reason could be that the prefilter or reverse osmosis membrane cartridges are clogged with sediment. Try replacing the prefilter cartridge first. If the production rate doesn't improve, replace the postfilter cartridge and the reverse osmosis membrane cartridge.

Why is my North Star Water System leaking at the fittings?
    • S
      Sandra ContrerasSep 18, 2025
If your North Star Water System is leaking at the push connect fittings, it could be due to several reasons: * The tubing might not be cut square: Cut the tubing square. * The tubing might not be pushed in all the way: Push the tubing in all the way. * The tubing might be nicked: Remove the tube, cut off the nicked portion, and reinsert it. * The outer tubing surface finish might not be smooth: Remove the tube, cut off the problem area, and reinsert it.
