BRAKE CABLE REPLACEMENT INSTRUCTIONS
FOR 4010/4202/4202C/4203/4204/4207/4208/4212/4214/4215/4216/4218/4220/4222/4224/4700/4900
REPLACING THE BRAKE CABLE (WHEN CABLE IS BROKEN INSIDE OF BRAKE HANDLE). GENERALLY THE BRAKE HANDLE IS
ALREADY SEPERATED FROM THE BRAKE CASING SO THE FIRST OBJECTIVE IS TO REMOVE THE DAMAGED CABLE.

STEP 3 – PULL THE BRAKE HAND
PIECE FROM THE BRAKE CASING
UNTIL THE HANDLE IS SEPERATED
FROM THE CABLE.
STEP 4 - REMOVE THE PROTECTIVE
PLASTIC CAP FROM THE FRONT OF
THE BRAKE CASING.
STEP 5 – REMOVE THE CABLE. REACH
INTO THE CASING AND GRAB THE CABLE
WITH THE PLIERS. PUSH THE CABLE OUT
THE FRONT OF THE BRAKE CASING.
STEP 1(4010/4202C/4203) - USE A PHILLIPS HEAD SCREW
DRIVER TO RELEASE THE SCREW ON THE SIDE OF THE
“L” SHAPED BRAKE SHOE.

STEP 1(4202/4207/4208/4212/4214/4215/4216/4700)
- USE A SMALL ALLEN WRENCH TO RELEASE THE
SCREW ON THE SIDE OF THE BRAKE SHOE.
(DO NOT REMOVE THE SCREW FROM THE SHOE)
STEP 2 (4010/4202C/4203) – A) REMOVE THE SPRING HOOK
FROM THE HOLE IN THE WALKER FRAME. B) PULL UPWARD
ON THE CABLE TO RELEASE THE CABLE FROM THE BRAKE
SHOE.
STEP 2 (4202/4207/4208/4212/4214/4215/4216/4700) -
PUSH THE END OF THE CABLE SO IT IS STRAIGHT
AND PULL UPWARD ON THE CABLE UNTIL IT IS
RELEASED FROM THE BRAKE SHOE.

Summary

Brake Cable Replacement Instructions

Initial Cable Disconnection

Release screws on the brake shoe and detach the cable from the shoe for specific walker models.

Removing Old Brake Cable

Separate the handle from the casing, remove the protective cap, and pull the old cable out.

Routing New Cable Through Casing

Thread the new cable through the front of the brake casing and over the center wheel.

Connecting Cable to Brake Handle

Thread cable through casing openings, adjust tension screw, and fit handle into casing.

Securing Cable and Adjusting Tension

Pull cable to remove slack, tighten screw, release brake, and adjust tension until wheel stops.

Final Cable Trim and Crimp

Cut cable to length below brake shoe and attach a new crimp to the end.

Explorer Model: Wheel Removal and Cable Route

Remove wheel, pull brake shoe, and route cable through cover and walker leg for 4300 Explorer.

Explorer Model: Cable Attachment and Adjustment

Thread barrel screw, attach cable to brake plunger, tighten screw, and repeat final adjustment steps.
