Do you have a question about the NTN-SNR AXC Series and is the answer not in the manual?

Overview

The device described in this manual is a series of linear axes and linear tables, specifically the AXC, AXDL, AXLT, and AXS series, manufactured by NTN-SNR. These units are designed for linear movement in various industrial applications such as positioning, synchronization, transport, palletizing, loading, unloading, clamping, tightening, testing, measuring, handling, and manipulating components or tools. They are supplied as partly completed machinery, requiring integration into a larger system.

Function Description:

The linear axes and tables provide precise linear motion, utilizing different drive and guidance systems to suit various application requirements. The AXC, AXDL, and AXLT series offer compact designs with options for toothed belt drive, ball screw drive, and trapezoidal thread drive, coupled with either ball rail systems or roller guides. The AXS series, on the other hand, exclusively uses linear ball rail systems for guidance and offers both toothed belt and rack and pinion drive systems. Some AXS models (AXS120T and AXS240T) are designed as telescopic axes for both vertical and horizontal use.

The drive adaptation involves mounting motors to the linear axes using various coupling mechanisms, including clamping hubs and tension hubs for toothed belt drives, and specific mounting procedures for planetary gearboxes and screw-type drives. The manual provides detailed instructions for motor mounting, including torque specifications for fastening components.

Position detection can be achieved using mechanical or inductive proximity switches, with professional wiring facilitated by standard two-way distributors and sensor boxes.

Important Technical Specifications:

The manual provides extensive tables detailing maximum driving torques and incline/feeder constants for various models across the AXC, AXDL, AXLT, and AXS series, categorized by their drive elements (toothed belt, ball screw drive, trapezoidal thread drive, gear rack).

    • ex 15 mm shaft: 10 Nm
  • Switch Specifications (Sensor box with M12 plug connection):

    • Rated voltage: 32 V DC
    • Supply voltage: 10 V DC ... 30 V DC
    • Max. carrying capacity per E/A signal: 1 A
    • Max. carrying capacity per slot: 2 A

    • Protection type: IP 68
    • Ambient temperature range: -25°C ... 80°C
  • Operating Temperature: -10°C to +40°C.

Usage Features:

The linear axes are designed for high-speed movements and significant force generation. Users are cautioned to ensure permissible loads are not exceeded and carriage fittings are securely fastened. Limit switches, if used, should be tested for correct positioning and performance. For vertical applications, precautions against unintentional descending are necessary.

Mounting options include direct bolting from above, pivoting sliding blocks, or T-nuts, allowing for flexible positioning along the profile length. The number of fastening points should be verified for each application to prevent deflection and maintain accuracy.

Maintenance Features:

Regular maintenance and lubrication are crucial for long-term performance. All maintenance and service work must be performed with the power off and the device secured.

  • Drive Systems:

    • Toothed belts generally require no maintenance, as tension is set during manufacturing. Retightening is not necessary during the service life.
    • Ball screw drives require lubrication according to rolling bearing guidelines. Lubrication loss is higher than conventional rolling bearings due to axial movement. Greases conforming to DIN 51825 K2K (NLGI class 2) are recommended for longer intervals. Lubricants with solid percentages (e.g., graphite or MoS2) should not be used.
    • For systems with two axes connected by a shaft, toothed belts should be replaced in pairs.
  • Guiding Systems:

    • Roller guides are equipped with lifelong lubrication and do not require servicing or readjustment during their intended service life. Roller guide shafts are supplied with oil via lubricating felt in the carriage.
    • Ball rail systems require lubrication according to maintenance intervals and lubricant quantities.
    • Periodic inspections for external damage and contamination are recommended. In harsh environments, inspection periods should be adjusted for necessary cleaning and relubrication.
    • Brush scrapers and/or sealing strips may need replacement after extended use. Instructions for replacement are provided, including loosening screws to remove the slide plate and belt clamping mechanisms. When replacing sealing strips, the linear axis serial number should be provided to ensure correct length.
  • Lubrication Intervals and Quantities:

    • Linear Ball Rail System: Relubrication recommended every 10,000 km or once per year. Petroleum-based lithium soap roller bearing lubricant is recommended.
    • Roller Bearing: Lubrication recommended every 5,000 km or once per year. Oil: ISO-VG460.
    • Trapezoidal Thread: Lubrication interval 10 to 20 km. Lubricant as for linear axis. Special lubricants with MoS2 or PTFE may be used for AXC, but must not enter the lubrication connection "F" for the linear axis.
    • Recommended Relubrication Quantities [cm³]: Detailed tables are provided for AXC, AXDL, and AXLT series, specifying quantities for different incline levels and lubricating points (S and F). AXC and AXDL series feature lubricating nipples on both sides for accessibility, with quantities applied to one side per interval.
    • AXS Series: Quantities are per carriage, applied directly via the lubrication nipple. Carriages in the second telescopic axis guide level are lubricated via the slide plate.
  • Lubricating Gear Racks:

    • Gear rack drives are optimally supplied by a permanent lubrication system with a felt cog wheel, pre-filled with UNIVERSAL+ lubricant for 12 months. If annual operating time is exceeded, the emptying time should be adjusted to 6 months. After this period, the lubricant tank and battery must be replaced.
    • The permanent lubrication system is delivered switched off and must be commissioned by setting a rotating switch from "OFF" to "ON". LEDs on the control board indicate operating status and faults (e.g., operation OK, fault, LC unit empty, dispensing).
    • The operating time and LC unit size can be adjusted using a quad switch on the control board, but only when a new, fully filled LC unit and new batteries are used.

The manufacturer emphasizes that the user is solely responsible for all risks arising from non-observance of safety and start-up instructions.
