8. Operation (Diagram )
N.B.! As hygiene is of great importance, you
should always wash your hands before using the
pump and observe the advice in
"10. Tips on
Hygiene" on page 19.
Important
First set suction strength regulator 6 to a mini-
mum by rotating the external ring to the left
towards “L”.
1. Place suction part 19 on your breast so that
the nipple is positioned in the centre. Gently
press on the suction part in order to ensure a
good seal when pumping the milk.
Always
hold the pump in a vertical position.
N.B.! If the pump is tilted too much, milk will
be sucked into the pump, resulting in possible
damage to the device and potential hygiene
problems.
2. Switch on the pump. Do this by turning red
switch
4 upwards towards "ON".
3. Adjust the suction power using rotary knob 6
until the optimum suction strength is attained.
The suction strength during pump delivery will
be on the lowest setting (L).
If the suction strength is too weak, rotate to
the right towards "H". If this is too strong,
rotate the knob to the left towards "L".
4. Pump operation can be interrupted by pushing
and releasing knob
5. Pushing and releasing the
knob during operation simulates the natural
sucking process.
N.B.! These short pauses in suction are also
important to help prevent the breast tissue
from bruising.
5. When you wish to stop pumping push knob 5
to gently release the pump from the breast.
6. To switch off the breast pump move switch 4
to the "OFF" position.
7. After use, place the breast pump onto stand 10
or 16, for stability.
8. NUK Standard Bottle:
Unscrew the suction part and pump unit from
NUK Standard Feeding Bottle
17.
NUK First Choice Bottle/
NUK Breast Milk Container:
Unscrew the suction part and pump unit and
then the connecting element from the bottle/
container.
You can now feed your baby the milk by screwing
teat
13 and screw ring 14 to the bottle.
To store the milk, secure the bottle using the pro-
tective cap provided, which you attach with screw
ring
14 to the bottle. Please refer to Section
"11. Storing the Milk" on page 19.
8.1 NUK Breast Milk Container
Important: When freezing breast milk do not fill
the container above the 150 ml/5 fl. oz. level, as
the milk will expand during freezing and therefore
the container may burst.
1. Unscrew the pump unit from the NUK Breast
Milk Container.
2. Secure the NUK Breast Milk Container using
the screw ring supplied and the associated seal
-
ing disc.
3. Using a water-soluble pen, write the date and
time of storage in the specified field on the
container.
