Overview

The Nutrichef Countertop Ice Maker Machine, model NCICNUG, is an electric ice maker designed for countertop use, offering convenient ice production with an included ice scoop and basket. It also features a rear-mounted hose for drainage.

Function Description

The primary function of this appliance is to produce ice cubes. It operates by pumping water into an internal ice-making assembly. Once ice forms, it is transferred to an ice tray and then drops into the ice basket. This process repeats automatically until the ice basket is full. The machine is designed to produce granular ice cubes, with an operating cycle lasting approximately 20-30 minutes for the first ice-making batch, depending on ambient and water temperatures.

The ice maker can be operated in two main ways regarding water supply: manually filling the water reservoir or connecting it to an external water source via a 1/4PE tube for automatic refilling. When the ice basket is full, the "Ice full" indicator illuminates, and the ice-making cycle automatically stops. The user can then remove the ice from the basket using the provided scoop. If the ice is not removed, the appliance will automatically resume operation after about 8 hours, or the user can manually restart it by pressing the "ON/OFF" key.

The machine also features a "No water" indicator that flashes when the water reservoir is low. If connected to an external water source, the reservoir will automatically refill, and the ice-making cycle will restart. If not connected, the user must manually refill the reservoir to the "MAX" mark.

Usage Features

The Nutrichef ice maker is designed for ease of use and convenience. It features a straightforward control panel with "On/Off" and "Clean" keys, along with several indicator lights to keep the user informed of its status.

  • On/Off Key: This key is used to start or stop the appliance.
  • Clean Key: This key initiates the cleaning process.
  • Ice-making Indicator: A solid light indicates that the appliance is actively making ice.
  • Clean Indicator: A solid light indicates that the appliance is performing a cleaning cycle.
  • No Water Indicator: This indicator illuminates and flashes when the water reservoir is empty, and the ice-making indicator turns off.
  • Ice Full Indicator: A solid light indicates that the ice basket is full.
  • Defrosting Indication: A flashing light indicates that the appliance is defrosting.

Before first use, it is crucial to unpack the appliance, check for all accessories, and ensure it is placed on a level and stable surface. The ice maker should not be inclined more than 45 degrees during transport or use, and if it has been moved, it should rest for 2 hours before being powered on to allow compressor fluids to settle. The appliance requires sufficient ventilation and should be kept away from heat sources. It is important to fill the water reservoir with room temperature or cooler water, never hot water, to prevent damage.

To use the ice maker:

  1. Ensure the drain plug at the back is closed.
  2. Plug the ice maker into a grounded wall outlet. The "No water" indicator will flash.
  3. Open the front lid, remove the ice basket, and fill the water reservoir with drinking water up to the "MAX" level mark.
  4. Replace the ice basket and close the front lid.
  5. Press the "ON/OFF" key. The "Ice-making" indicator will light solidly, and the ice production cycle will begin.
  6. Once the desired amount of ice is produced, stop the cycle by pressing "ON/OFF" and unplug the unit.
  7. Transfer the ice to a freezer for storage.

The appliance is equipped with a viewing window, allowing users to monitor the ice level without opening the lid. It is designed for indoor use only and boasts a quiet, fast, and efficient operation. The well-insulated storage bin helps maintain ice temperature.

Maintenance Features

Regular cleaning is essential to ensure fresh-tasting ice and maintain the appliance's performance. It is recommended to clean the ice maker at least once per week.

The cleaning process involves:

  1. Removing the ice basket.
  2. Adding water and detergent to the water reservoir.
  3. Pressing and holding the "Clean" key for about 3 seconds. The "Clean" indicator will light up, and the appliance will enter cleaning mode for 8 minutes.
  4. After the cleaning cycle, the appliance stops, and the "Clean" indicator flashes.
  5. Removing the drain tube at the back of the appliance and placing it over a dirty water outlet. Open the drain plug to drain all the dirty water.
  6. Closing the drain plug and refilling the water reservoir with clean water.
  7. Pressing the "Clean" key again to initiate a rinse cycle, which also lasts 8 minutes.
  8. Repeating the draining process (step 5) to remove the rinse water.
  9. Cleaning the inside of the appliance with a soft cloth soaked in warm water and vinegar.
  10. Rinsing the drain tube and securing the drain plug in its fixing groove at the back of the appliance.
  11. Washing the ice basket and ice scoop in warm soapy water, then rinsing and drying them.
  12. Cleaning the exterior of the ice maker with a soft damp cloth, using a mild dishwashing soap if necessary.

It is important not to use organic solvents, boiled water, strong acid, strong alkali, or other flammable fluids for cleaning, as these can damage the appliance or create a fire hazard. The water reservoir should be emptied and dried for storage if the ice maker will not be used for an extended period. The water in the reservoir should be replaced weekly if the appliance is in continuous use.

The device also has an automatic defrosting function. If the ice-making assembly becomes frozen, the appliance will automatically defrost for about 20 minutes, during which time the control keys cannot be operated. After defrosting, the appliance can be used again. If this issue occurs repeatedly, it may indicate a refrigerant leak, requiring professional maintenance.
