PART ONE: SPEAR ASSEMBLY
1. Please clean mini keg, cap, spear body, faucet and
coee hose with warm water and mild soap before use.
2. Pour cold water/milk and cold brew coee base
(Catesse/Concentrate) into keg.
NOTE:
Percentage of catesse and cold water depend on your
experience, maybe 20:1, 15:1 or others.
Total liquid volume is 1.8L-1.85L.
Please keep in mind that you don’t need to leave enough
space in the keg to inject the gas cartridge into.
This model NCNTROCB20 is dierent with NCNTROCB10.
NCNTROCB10: No regulator, so all the gas go inside of
keg immediately.
NCNTROCB20: Has Regulator, regulated pressure to 45
PSI to let gas infuse into coee slowly.
3. Cut coee hose according to keg height and insert
into Spear, make sure hose can touch bottom of keg
without overlong or overshort.
Remark: if hose is too short, coee would not be tapped
completely. But if hose is too long, it may crimp inside the
keg, also caused by incomplete tapping.
4. Attach spear to the keg, install faucet into spear body,
make sure the connection is proper and tight.
Remark: Improper combination would cause leakage of
coee liquid.
5. Check the regulator knob if turned
fully towards "decrease"so pressure
will not be lost once the cartridge is
punctured. If not, please follow arrow
marking to turn the regulator knob
counter clockwise to the OFF position.
6. Place 8g nonthread N2 or 2g N2O into SS cartridge
holder, screw it tight to regulator base, and then turn on
the regulator, hear whistle sound, indicates that the
cartridge is punctured, then turn it o.
7. Connect the regulator to the spear system.
8. Turn on regulator knob, let needle go
far to 45 PSI, let it on, then put into
refrigerator for 3-4 hours.
9. Take out the whole setup from refrigerator, the pressure
gauge is around 35 PSI - 40 PSI, place the glass to the
nozzle and then pull the handle to the front slowly,
enjoy your 1st glass of Nitro Coee.
10. Shake the whole setup, let Nitrogen Gas to mix well,
and dispense the rest coee.

Overview

The NutriChef NCNTROCB20 is a 64 Oz. Nitro Cold Brew Coffee Maker, a stainless steel homebrew coffee keg system kit designed to create nitro cold brew coffee. This system includes a pressure-relieving valve, a regulator with an SS cartridge holder, and a stout creamer faucet, allowing users to enjoy professional-quality nitro coffee at home.

Function Description:

The primary function of the NCNTROCB20 is to infuse cold brew coffee with nitrogen gas, resulting in a creamy, cascading texture and a rich, smooth flavor characteristic of nitro cold brew. Unlike models without a regulator, this device features a regulator that controls the gas pressure, allowing for a slow and controlled infusion of nitrogen into the coffee at a regulated pressure of 45 PSI. This slow infusion process is crucial for achieving the desired nitro effect. The system is designed for use with cold brew coffee base (such as Cafitesse or concentrate) mixed with cold water or milk. The integrated pressure-relieving valve ensures safety during operation by preventing excessive pressure buildup. The stout creamer faucet is specifically designed to dispense nitro coffee, creating the signature cascading effect and a creamy head.

Usage Features:

Operating the NCNTROCB20 involves several steps to prepare and dispense nitro cold brew. First, the mini keg, cap, spear body, faucet, and coffee hose must be cleaned with warm water and mild soap. Next, cold water or milk and the cold brew coffee base are poured into the keg. The recommended total liquid volume is between 1.8L and 1.85L, with the ratio of coffee base to water/milk depending on user preference, typically ranging from 20:1 to 15:1. It's important not to overfill the keg, but also to ensure enough space for the gas cartridge. The coffee hose needs to be cut to the correct length to reach the bottom of the keg without being too long (which could cause crimping and incomplete tapping) or too short (which would prevent complete tapping). The spear is then attached to the keg, and the faucet is installed into the spear body, ensuring a proper and tight connection to prevent leaks.

Before injecting gas, the regulator knob should be turned fully counter-clockwise to the "OFF" position to prevent pressure loss when the cartridge is punctured. An 8g non-threaded N2 or 2g N2O cartridge is placed into the SS cartridge holder and screwed tightly to the regulator base. Turning on the regulator will puncture the cartridge, indicated by a "whistle" sound, after which it should be turned off. The regulator is then connected to the spear system. To infuse the coffee, the regulator knob is turned on, allowing the needle on the 100PSI gauge to reach 45 PSI. The system is then placed in a refrigerator for 3-4 hours to allow the nitrogen to infuse slowly.

After refrigeration, the pressure gauge should read around 35-40 PSI. To dispense, a glass is placed under the nozzle, and the handle is pulled slowly to the front. For optimal results and to mix the nitrogen gas well, the entire setup should be shaken before dispensing the remaining coffee. If the cascading effect is not satisfactory or the pressure is low, a second cartridge can be added. When adding a second cartridge, the regulator must be screwed off, and step 5 (turning the regulator knob to "OFF") should be repeated. It's crucial not to unscrew the SS cartridge holder while gas remains; instead, turn the knob to the "OFF" position to save gas. When the last drop of cold brew coffee is finished, the regulator should be turned off, and the faucet handle pulled to completely remove any remaining nitrogen gas before unscrewing the spear system.

Troubleshooting features are also provided. If the faucet leaks, tightening the 4-hole nut on the crossbar of the spear with a standard wrench should resolve the issue. For a lack of foaming head or cascading effect, users are advised to ensure the gas cartridge is of good quality, recommending famous brands like ISI, Mosa, or Kayser. Shaking the system when the pressure is above 25 PSI is a critical step for achieving the desired effect. If cascading is still absent and pressure is below 10 PSI, replacing the cartridge is recommended.

Maintenance Features:

The NCNTROCB20 includes guidelines for quick cleaning and general care to ensure its longevity. For quick cleaning, the keg should be filled with hot water and repeated three times. The hose should also be rinsed with hot water. For a more thorough clean, the keg should be filled with hot water and 1 tablespoon of baking soda or powdered wash, shaken until water runs from the top, and left for 10 minutes. The faucet should be rinsed by turning it on, and a cleaning brush should be used to clean the coffee keg.

For general care, after use, the mini keg should be drained upside down or air-dried, ensuring the cap is left off until it is completely dry. The device should not be microwaved or frozen, nor should it be put in a dishwasher. It is not designed for hot liquids, non-food items, or caustic, highly acidic materials. The system is not guaranteed against leakage from above-average tap pressure. Users should exercise caution if using it for conditioning or fermenting. Finally, the silicone seal or cap should be kept away from children. The manual also provides detailed information on the various O-rings used in the system, including their dimensions, to assist with maintenance and replacement if needed.
