The NuvōMed TDT-6/0924 (Model RN-50A) is an audible infrared thermometer designed for non-contact temperature measurement. It is intended for both body temperature and object temperature measurement, offering a versatile tool for various applications.
Function Description:
This device is a non-contact infrared thermometer that measures temperature without physical contact. It is specifically designed to take the body temperature of a person (or pet) regardless of room temperature. It can also measure object temperatures, including room temperature and liquid temperatures. The thermometer features an audible alert system, with a beep sound indicating measurements, and rapid beeps if the body temperature exceeds 100.4°F (38°C). The device includes a 3-color backlight indicator for body temperature readings: green for normal (86-99.3°F / 32-37.4°C), orange for slightly elevated (99.5-100.2°F / 37.5-37.9°C), and red for fever (100.4-109.2°F / 38-42.9°C). For object mode, the backlight will always be green. The thermometer also has a memory function that automatically stores temperature measurements, which can be recalled using the UP or DOWN buttons.

Usage Features:
The thermometer offers two primary measurement modes: "Body" mode for human (or pet) temperature and "Object" mode for surface temperatures.
- Mode Selection: The device has a "Mode" button to switch between Body and Object modes.
- Function Key (F1-F4):
- F1 (Setting of °F/°C): Allows selection between Fahrenheit and Celsius units. Press the MODE button for 2 seconds, then use UP/DOWN to select.
- F2 (Temp. Alarm): Sets the temperature alarm threshold. The default setting is 100.4°F (38°C). Press MODE for 2 seconds, then again to F2, then use UP/DOWN to adjust by 0.1°F (0.1°C).
- F3 (Setting of difference): Allows for adjustment of temperature readings to account for seasonal or environmental changes. This is suitable for Body Mode ONLY. Press MODE for 2 seconds, then twice to F3, then use UP/DOWN to adjust by 0.1°F (0.1°C).
- F4 (Setting of Buzzer): Turns the audible buzzer on or off. Press MODE for 2 seconds, then three times to F4, then use UP/DOWN to select.
- Measurement Trigger: Located on the device, it initiates a temperature reading.
- Measurement Distance: For accurate readings, maintain a distance of about 1-2 inches (3-5cm) from the forehead or behind the ear lobe in Body mode.
- Warm-up Time: After inserting new batteries, allow 10 minutes for the apparatus to warm up.
- Pre-measurement Check: Before use, especially for body temperature, ensure the device has been in the measurement room for 15-20 minutes. Remove any hair or perspiration from the forehead to ensure accuracy. If the forehead is covered, take the temperature behind the ear lobe.
- Troubleshooting: The device provides error codes like "Lo" or "Hi" if the measurement is outside the specified range or if ambient temperature is too low/high. Solutions include checking the probe cleanliness, ensuring no air flux, verifying measuring distance, and allowing the device to acclimate to room temperature (50-104°F / 10-40°C).
Maintenance Features:
- Cleaning: The protective glass over the lens and the infrared sensor are the most delicate parts and must be kept clean and intact for accurate readings. Use a cotton bud lightly moistened with 70% alcohol to clean the glass. The LCD display and exterior should be wiped gently with a soft, dry cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners.
- Storage: Store the device in a cool, dry place, away from extreme temperatures (>122°F / 50°C or <32°F / 0°C), high humidity (>85%), direct sunlight, and water. Keep away from dust and out of reach of children.
- Battery Care: Remove batteries if the device will not be used for three or more months. Ensure batteries are inserted with correct polarity. Do not mix old and new batteries, or different types (alkaline, carbon-zinc, rechargeable). Non-rechargeable batteries should not be charged. Exhausted batteries must be removed.
- Durability: Do not drop or knock the device. Do not immerse it in water.
- Repair: Do not attempt to repair the device yourself. Contact the local authorized distributor for any defects or repairs. Only authorized parts and accessories should be used.
- Consult a physician if you suspect a medical issue; this device does not diagnose conditions.
- Avoid exposing the thermometer to electric shocks or large electromagnetic fields.
- Do not use where flammable gases or liquids are present.
- Ensure the device is used within specified EMC declaration environments to prevent improper operation.
- Avoid using the device adjacent to or stacked with other devices, as this could lead to improper operation.
- The product is suitable for any human body temperature measurement at any age.
