What to do if O.S. engine fails to fire?
- CChristopher FrancoAug 8, 2025
If the O.S. Engine fails to fire, several issues could be the cause. First, the glowplug battery might be discharged; try recharging the lead-acid cell or replacing the dry battery. A burned-out glowplug element could also be the culprit, so replace the glowplug, ensuring the applied voltage isn't too high. Check the battery leads using other leads. Lastly, the engine may be flooded due to excessive priming. In this case, fully close the needle-valve, remove the glowplug, and flip the propeller to pump out excess fuel.
