Please keep these operating instructions in a safe place! Also hand over the operating instructions when passing the
unit on to a new owner. Ensure that all work with this unit is only carried out in accordance with these instructions.

Scope of delivery

Our scope of delivery includes a completely preassembled Varionaut 1.
Operation requires the following units, which are not included in the scope of delivery:
One electronic 24 V DC switching power pack with a maximum residual ripple of 5 % and DC decoupling between the
primary and the secondary side.
One DMX control unit from OASE.

Intended use

The Varionaut 1 is intended for use in clear or treated water. Only use the unit under the conditions described in these
instructions for use. Protect the Varionaut 1 from frost.
The Varionaut 1 has been exclusively manufactured for pumping clear water for indoor and outdoor use in fountain
systems at water temperatures of 40-95 degrees Fahrenheit (4°C to 35° C).
For operation, use electronic switching power packs having a maximum of 5 % residual ripple. DC decoupling between
the primary and secondary side is absolutely necessary.
The Varionaut 1 is controlled by DMX signals. For this purpose, only use a DMX control unit from OASE.

Safety information
− Check that the power supply information on the type plate of your unit coincides with your power
supply.
− Only connect the unit to a grounded power supply with a fault current protection switch meeting the
local or national regulations (e.g. NEC, UL, CSA, IEC). In case of doubt, contact an approved electrici-
an.
− Do not use additional components, extension/connection/adapter cables, which are not grounded.
− Never operate the unit when persons are in the water!
− Ensure that the installations in and at the pond meet with the local and national installation regulations.
In case of doubt, contact an approved electrician.
− Isolate the mains voltage at all poles prior to starting work on the unit.
− Never carry or pull the unit by the connection cable.
− Keep open cable ends, contacts, plugs or connection points dry.
− Do not put the unit into operation if the cable or housing is damaged.
− Route the cables such that they are protected from possible damage.
− Never open the unit, unless described in these instructions. Only the manufacturer is entitled to carry
out repairs or the exchange of unit cables.
CAUTION: This pump is for garden use. Do not use in swimming pools, spas, hot tubs, etc. Running dry will inevita-
bly cause almost immediate failure and void all warranties implied or otherwise.
Correct electrical installation
− WARNING: This pump must be connected to a transformer. The transformer must be connected to a
properly grounded and GFCI (Ground Fault Circuit Interrupter < 30mA) protected 110-120 Volt AC
circuit only.
− Contact your local electric company regarding the electrical connection values or prerequisites for
electrical installations.
− Should the connection cable be too short, we recommend to call in an approved professional electrici-
an to install a connection point within reach of the connection cable or an approved cable extension .
− Avoid excessive bending or chafing of cables.
− Every modification to the unit is commensurate with non-observance of the CSA approval or its directi-
ves. In such a case every guarantee or warranty becomes null and void.
