Overview

The Ohmex Pasta Maker PAS 2200 is a versatile appliance designed for domestic use, allowing users to easily prepare fresh pasta and biscuits. It features a compact design with a transparent mixing container, enabling users to monitor the kneading and extrusion process.

Function Description:

The pasta maker operates with a simple two-mode switch: "MIX" for mixing/kneading and "EXT" for extrusion. Users first add dry ingredients like flour and herbs to the mixing container, then liquids such as water, vegetable juice, or an egg-water mixture are slowly added through a designated slot in the lid while the machine is in "MIX" mode. The kneading process typically takes 5-10 minutes, after which the dough is allowed to rest for about 30 minutes. Once rested, the machine is switched to "EXT" mode to extrude the pasta through the chosen attachment. The extruded pasta can then be cut to the desired length and either cooked immediately, dried for 1-2 hours for refrigeration (up to 1-2 days), or frozen (up to 6 months). The device includes a safety interlock system, preventing operation unless the mixing container lid is correctly positioned and locked.

Important Technical Specifications:

  • Power Supply: 220-240V~50/60Hz
  • Power: 180W
  • Flour Capacity: 400g
  • Pasta Forms + Biscuits: The appliance comes with 9 different attachments for various pasta shapes and biscuits, including Spaghetti, Noodles, Rigatoni, Angel Hair (Capellini), Tagliatelle, Lasagne, Linguine, Tortellini, Fettuccine, and Biscuits.
  • Control: Simple switch for mixing or extrusion mode.
  • Visibility: Transparent mixing container for monitoring the process.
  • Stability: Anti-slip feet for secure placement during operation.

Usage Features:

  • Easy Assembly: The manual provides clear, step-by-step instructions for assembling the mixing container, dough screw conveyor, kneading spiral, connecting piece, and pasta attachments.
  • Ingredient Addition: Dry ingredients are added first, followed by liquids poured slowly through a specific slot in the lid during mixing.
  • Dough Consistency: Tips are provided for achieving optimal dough consistency, including adding more liquid if the dough is too dry (powdery) or more flour if it's too wet (large lumps sticking to the spiral).
  • Resting Time: A 30-minute resting period for the dough is recommended before extrusion.
  • Extrusion Process: The machine extrudes pasta evenly, and users are advised to support the emerging pasta without pulling or squeezing it, then cut it to the desired length.
  • Overheating Prevention: The appliance should not be operated continuously for more than 15 minutes to prevent overheating. Breaks are recommended for successive or long-duration preparations.
  • Safety Interlock: A safety switch ensures the machine only operates when the lid is correctly closed and locked, preventing accidental activation.
  • Dough Removal: The device can be tilted slightly forward to facilitate the complete removal of dough from the mixing container after extrusion.
  • Recipe Guidance: A basic recipe for pasta dough is included, detailing ingredient quantities (400g flour, 4 eggs, 1 tsp salt, 1-2 tsp oil) and preparation steps.
  • Flavor and Color Enhancement: Suggestions include using vegetable juices (spinach, carrots, tomatoes) for color and flavor, and a little olive oil to improve dough flow through attachments.
  • Drying and Storage: Fresh pasta can be dried on a floured surface for 1-2 hours before refrigerating or freezing to prevent sticking.

Maintenance Features:

  • Easy Disassembly for Cleaning: The device is designed for complete disassembly, allowing all parts to be cleaned thoroughly.
  • Cleaning Instructions:
    • The motor unit should be cleaned with a damp cloth, avoiding abrasive detergents. It must never be immersed in water or washed in a dishwasher.
    • All accessories (excluding the motor unit) are dishwasher-safe or can be washed by hand with warm water and mild detergent.
    • For stubborn dough remnants, soaking parts in warm soapy water is recommended.
  • Pre-Use Check: Before each use, users should check the mechanical integrity of the appliance, ensuring no cracks or damage to components, including the power cord and plug.
  • Storage: After cleaning and complete drying, the appliance should be reassembled and stored in a dry, clean place inaccessible to children.
  • Troubleshooting: A troubleshooting guide is provided for common issues, such as the appliance not turning on, uneven kneading, slow extrusion, or difficulty inserting attachments. It emphasizes contacting authorized service centers for repairs and warns against self-repair to avoid voiding the warranty.
  • Environmental Information: The manual includes directives for the proper disposal of the appliance and batteries at the end of their lifespan, in accordance with RoHS and WEEE regulations, to promote recycling and prevent environmental harm.
