Overview

The OKIOCAM T Plus is a versatile document camera designed for educational and professional use, offering a seamless plug-and-play experience without the need for driver installation. It integrates effortlessly with various third-party applications, including popular video conferencing tools like Zoom and Google Meet, as well as OKIOCAM's own suite of apps. The device powers on automatically when any camera-requiring application is launched on your computer and powers off when the app is closed, eliminating the need for a dedicated power button.

A key feature of the OKIOCAM T Plus is its Lossless Sensor Zoom (LSZ) technology, which allows users to zoom in and out without any degradation in image quality. This ensures that details remain sharp and clear, whether you're showcasing a small object or a section of a document. The camera's rotatable head provides flexibility in capturing different angles and perspectives.

The physical design of the OKIOCAM T Plus is highly adaptable. It features an adjustable arm and an arm extender, allowing users to position the camera precisely over their desired subject. The foldable base includes a built-in dry-erase board, making it an excellent tool for interactive lessons, brainstorming, or quick demonstrations. The camera can also be detached from the arm and reattached using a left-hand connector, catering to left-handed users and offering additional setup options. A tripod mount further expands its versatility, allowing for stable and elevated positioning.

The dry-erase board is a practical addition for various tasks, from writing math formulas and sketchnoting to doodling. The device comes with a dry-erase marker, and for first-time use, it's recommended to tap the nib on a scrap piece of paper until the ink flows freely. After use, the board can be easily cleaned with the included microfiber cleaning cloth or tissue paper. It's important to note that alcohol-based or other chemical cleaners should not be used for maintenance of the dry-erase board.

The OKIOCAM T Plus incorporates several intuitive buttons directly on the device, ensuring integrated functionality across all third-party video conferencing and video recording apps without requiring driver installation.

  1. Auto Adjust Button: This button automatically adjusts the camera's focus, exposure, and white balance, providing instant image clarity if the picture appears blurry or poorly lit.
  2. Zoom Button: Users can cycle through four different zoom levels with this button. The LSZ technology ensures that even when zooming, the image quality remains uncompromised by cropping the image from its maximum resolution and resizing it to fit the current resolution. The degree of zoom available depends on the current resolution, with lower resolutions offering higher magnification.
  3. Exposure Button: This button allows users to cycle through seven exposure (brightness) levels, ranging from -3 to +3. Repeated presses will adjust the image from very bright to very dark, and then back up, giving control over lighting conditions.
  4. Flip Button: If the camera's image appears upside-down, this button can be used to flip it 180 degrees, providing flexibility in positioning and orientation.

Beyond the hardware, the OKIOCAM T Plus is supported by the OKIOCAM Education Kit, which includes a suite of software. The OKIOCAM Snapshot and Recorder app allows users to take snapshots and videos. Within this app, users can:

  • Take snapshots and start/pause/end video recordings.
  • Enter Review Mode to view previously taken snapshots and videos.
  • Use a Zoom slider to control magnification between 1x and 6x.
  • Rotate the camera clockwise and counterclockwise using dedicated arrows.
  • Adjust exposure (brightness) with an Exposure slider.
  • Freeze the camera feed.
  • Automatically adjust focus, exposure, and white balance.
  • Reset the camera to default settings.

The Education Kit also features OKIOCAM Stop Motion and OKIOCAM Time-Lapse for creating engaging videos, as well as Google Chrome add-ons for Docs, Sheets, Slides, and Forms to enhance productivity.

When using third-party video conferencing apps, it's common for the preview window to show a mirrored video. This is a default setting of most apps and does not indicate a fault with the OKIOCAM. The video transmitted to other participants will be non-mirrored. The manual provides detailed instructions for setting up the OKIOCAM T Plus with Google Meet, Zoom, Skype, and Microsoft Teams, typically involving selecting the OKIOCAM from the camera settings within each application. For learning apps like Flipgrid, Screencastify, and Seesaw, the process involves selecting the OKIOCAM as the video source and, in some cases, using the flip function within the app to adjust orientation.

The OKIOCAM T Plus is designed to be a user-friendly and robust tool, offering a comprehensive solution for visual communication and interactive learning.
