Why won't my Oleo-Mac Trimmer start or stay running?

  If your Oleo-Mac Trimmer engine won't start or shuts off shortly after starting, there could be two main reasons. First, there might not be a spark. Check the spark plug for a spark, and if there isn't one, try again with a new RCJ-7Y spark plug. Second, the engine might be flooded. Follow the procedure on page 26. If the engine still doesn't start, try the procedure again using a new spark plug.

  This issue may be due to several factors. First, ensure you are using fresh gasoline mixed with the correct 2-stroke engine oil. Second, a dirty air filter can cause these symptoms; refer to the air filter maintenance instructions to clean it. Third, the carburetor may need adjustment. Contact an Authorized Service Center to adjust the carburetor.

  If the Oleo-Mac Trimmer engine does not reach full speed or emits excessive smoke, check the oil fuel mixture, use fresh fuel and the correct 2-cycle oil mix. Also, the air filter may be dirty and needs cleaning, refer to the Maintenance-Air Filter Section for instructions. The carburetor may also require adjustment, so contact a Servicing Dealer for carburetor adjustment.
