Overview

This document describes the functions, usage, and maintenance features of the ELLISSE HP device.

Function Description

The ELLISSE HP is a versatile climate control unit offering cooling, heating, fan-only, and dehumidification modes. Its operation is managed through both a control board on the unit itself and a remote control, providing flexibility in how users interact with the device.

Cooling Mode: In this mode, the internal fan operates continuously, and its speed can be adjusted manually. The compressor activates when the room temperature exceeds the set temperature plus a hysteresis value and deactivates when the room temperature falls below or equals the set temperature. An automatic fan speed control feature adjusts the fan speed based on the difference between room and set temperatures: minimum speed for small differences, medium for moderate, and maximum for larger differences. A cooling defrost subprogram is integrated to manage ice formation, periodically switching the compressor and external fan OFF and ON for specified durations. During defrosting, the internal fan speed is set to medium, except when the maximum fan speed was selected, in which case it remains at maximum.

Heating Mode: Similar to cooling, the internal fan operates continuously, and its speed can be manually set. The 4-way valve is activated first, followed by the compressor and external fan, when the room temperature is below or equal to the set temperature minus a hysteresis value. When the room temperature exceeds the set temperature, the compressor and external fan switch off, but the 4-way valve remains energized. An automatic fan speed control is also available, adjusting fan speed based on the room temperature relative to the set temperature. A heating defrost subprogram is present, forcing the compressor to periodically switch OFF and ON when the room temperature falls below a predefined defrost temperature. During this subprogram, the internal fan behaves as usual, starting at low speed for a set duration before switching to the selected fan speed when the compressor is ON, and similarly when the compressor is OFF.

Dehumidification Mode: This mode operates similarly to cooling but focuses on reducing humidity. The internal fan is forced to run at minimum speed, except during the defrosting subprogram where it runs at medium speed. The set temperature in this mode is automatically equalized to the room temperature and cannot be manually adjusted. The compressor's working cycle is controlled based on the room temperature relative to the set temperature, with different ON/OFF durations to optimize dehumidification. A 3-minute delay is observed before the first compressor activation in this mode.

Fan Mode: In this mode, only the internal fan operates, and its speed can be manually selected from high, medium, or minimum. The compressor, external fan, water disposal motor, and 4-way valve remain OFF. The set temperature values are replaced by a dash symbol, and temperature adjustment controls are disabled.

Automatic Mode: This mode intelligently selects between cooling, heating, and fan-only functions based on the continuously monitored room temperature. For instance, if the room temperature is very low, it activates heating at maximum speed; if it's high, it activates cooling at maximum speed. Intermediate temperatures trigger heating or cooling at medium/minimum speeds, or fan-only mode. The internal fan speed remains constant for at least 3 minutes after each variation to prevent rapid changes.

Sleep Mode: Available in conjunction with cooling and heating modes, this feature adjusts the set temperature automatically over time to promote comfortable sleep. In cooling, the set temperature gradually increases, while in heating, it gradually decreases. The internal fan is forced to run at minimum speed. This mode can be disabled, and the function timer resets if the set temperature is modified, the unit is placed in standby, or power is disconnected.

Turbo Mode: This mode provides rapid cooling by directly switching the unit to cooling mode with a predefined low set temperature and maximum fan speed.

Timer Mode: This function allows users to schedule a delayed ON or OFF operation for the unit. The time delay, ranging from 1 to 12 hours, can be set and canceled from both the remote control and the display unit. When the timer is active, the display shows a countdown to the scheduled operation.

Usage Features

The ELLISSE HP offers intuitive controls for ease of use.

Control Board: The unit's control board features buttons for power (ON/Standby), working mode selection (cooling, automatic, fan-only, dehumidification, heating), fan speed selection (max, med, min), temperature/delay set increase and decrease, and ON/OFF delay confirmation/cancel. An LCD with blue backlight displays operational status, including set temperature, timer, and various mode indicators. A red LED indicates standby mode.

Remote Control: The remote control mirrors most functions of the control board, allowing for convenient operation from a distance. It includes buttons for ON/Standby, mode selection, turbo mode, temperature set increase/decrease, fan speed selection, auto fan speed, ON/OFF delay settings, sleep mode, and a remote controller reset. The remote's display shows the current temperature set, delay time, and active modes.

Display Indicators: Both the unit's LCD and the remote control display various symbols to indicate the active mode (cooling, dehumidification, automatic, sleep, fan), fan speed, timer status, and other operational information. These visual cues help users quickly understand the unit's current state.

Automatic Fan Speed: In cooling and heating modes, the unit can automatically adjust the internal fan speed based on the room temperature and set temperature, optimizing comfort and energy efficiency without manual intervention.

Delayed Operations: The timer function allows users to program the unit to switch ON or OFF after a specified delay, which is useful for pre-cooling a room before arrival or turning off the unit after falling asleep.

Maintenance Features

The ELLISSE HP includes features and warnings to facilitate maintenance and ensure optimal performance.

Dirty Filter Warning: The unit provides a "Dirty Filter" warning (indicated by 'Fi' on the display) after the internal fan has operated for a set number of hours. This prompts the user to clean or replace the filter, which is crucial for maintaining air quality and unit efficiency. The warning can be reset by pressing the Standby key for at least 5 seconds.

Alarm Codes: The device is equipped with a diagnostic system that displays specific alarm codes for various issues, such as room sensor alarm ('2' blinking), water level alarm ('3' blinking), internal motor fan alarm ('8' blinking), and EEPROM data failure ('13' blinking). These codes help in identifying and troubleshooting problems.

Diagnostic Mode: A special diagnostic mode can be activated from standby by pressing specific keys on the display unit. In this mode, all alarms are enabled, and the unit cycles through its various operational components (compressor, fans, 4-way valve) to allow for comprehensive testing and fault diagnosis. The room temperature acquired by the probe can also be displayed.

Autorestart Function: The unit stores its current settings (excluding sleep and timer modes) in EEPROM. In the event of a power mains interruption, the autorestart function ensures that the unit resumes operation with its previously stored settings once power is restored. A 3-minute delay is observed before compressor activation after power-on. If EEPROM data is corrupted, the unit will restart in standby mode.

Sensor Monitoring: The unit continuously monitors room temperature and water levels. If the room temperature falls outside a specified range or if the condensate water level switch remains open for an extended period, the unit will stop operation and display an alarm, preventing potential damage.

Internal Fan Monitoring: The system monitors the internal fan's speed. If the fan speed drops below a certain threshold for a continuous period while it should be operating, an internal fan alarm is triggered, and the unit stops, indicating a potential issue with the fan motor.
