Overview

The Oliveri Santorini ST-BL1584U is a farmhouse undermount sink designed for modern and traditional kitchens. Manufactured from a robust composite material consisting of 80% granite and 20% quartz and resin, this sink offers exceptional durability, making it scratch, heat, and stain resistant. Its design allows for installation on virtually any type of benchtop, including wood, plastic, and marble, providing versatility for various kitchen aesthetics.

Function Description

The Santorini sink serves as a primary workstation in the kitchen, designed for washing dishes, preparing food, and other related tasks. Its farmhouse style, characterized by a protruding front, adds a distinctive aesthetic element to the kitchen. The sink is specifically designed for undermount installation, requiring a bespoke artisan approach due to the absence of a pre-cut template. This necessitates professional and expert installers to ensure correct fitting and support.

The sink features a reversible front, offering two distinct aesthetic options. One front has 'sharp' corners with an 18mm radius and a 32mm top edge, suitable for modern and contemporary environments. The opposite front presents more rounded corners with a 40mm radius and a wider 40mm top edge, ideal for country kitchens or those with a classic or retro design. This reversibility allows homeowners to choose the front that best complements their kitchen's style.

The sink assembly includes a basket strainer, screw, strainer body, seal, and drain, facilitating efficient water drainage and preventing food particles from entering the plumbing system.

  • Reversible Fronts: Allows users to choose between a modern 'sharp' corner look (32mm top edge) or a classic 'rounded' corner look (40mm top edge) to match their kitchen's aesthetic.
  • Undermount Design: Creates a seamless look with the benchtop, making cleaning easier and providing a continuous counter surface.
  • Heavy-Duty Construction: Designed to withstand daily kitchen use, but caution is advised regarding heavy or pointed objects.
  • Dishwasher/Washing Machine Compatibility: If a washing machine or dishwasher is installed beneath the sink, specific ventilation adjustments are required to prevent overheating and deformation of the sink. This includes adjusting appliance feet for sufficient ventilation and providing cabinet base ventilation slots.

Maintenance Features

  • Regular Cleaning: Clean the sink regularly with a soft cloth and warm soapy water after each use.
  • Stain Removal:
    • Normal stains should be removed immediately.
    • Marks from easily staining foods/liquids (tea, coffee, fruit juice) should be removed immediately with very hot water and a cleaning product.
    • Special stains (Indian ink, oil-based stains, paints) can be removed with a cloth dampened with denatured alcohol.
    • Organic stains can be treated by filling the sink with a highly diluted organic cleaner (e.g., bleach) overnight, then rinsing with warm water and a soft cloth.
    • Lines caused by contact with pots or forks can be removed with a cloth or sponge and liquid detergent.
  • Lime Buildup Prevention: To prevent lime buildup, especially in hard water areas, remove any buildup at least twice a week. For dark-colored sinks, a solution of vinegar and water (or a specialized product) can be used to cover the bottom of the sink for a few hours, followed by vigorous scrubbing with a stiff sponge and thorough rinsing.
  • Scratch and Chip Repair: Minor scratches and chips can be removed using very fine wet & dry paper (used wet) and then polished.
  • Avoid Abrasives: Do not use abrasive detergents, metal cleaning pads, or chemically aggressive detergents as they can scratch the surface.
  • Heat Protection: Avoid placing pots, pans, or other hot objects exceeding 280°C directly on the sink surface. Always use appropriate potholders (wood, rubber, etc.) for items removed from the burner (which can exceed 600°C).
  • Thermal Shock Prevention: Avoid exposing the sink to very hot and very cold objects simultaneously.
  • Cutting Surface: Do not use the sink as a cutting surface; always use a cutting board (bamboo or high-pressure laminate) to prevent damage.
  • Chemical Avoidance: Do not pour alcohol, gasoline, trichloroacetic acid, or any general solvents into or onto the sink, as they can react with the composite material and cause irreparable damage.
  • Sealant: When sealing the sink to the benchtop and cabinet, use only 'neutral cure' silicone sealant. 'Acetic cure' silicone can irreparably damage the sink. Immediately wipe away any excess sealant.
