Overview

This document provides a fitting guide for an OLTENS bath shower mixer tap.

Function Description

The OLTENS bath shower mixer tap is designed to control the flow and temperature of water for both bath and shower use. It mixes hot and cold water to achieve the desired temperature and allows the user to divert the water flow between the bath spout and a shower outlet. The tap features a single lever for easy operation, enabling the user to adjust water flow rate and temperature with a simple movement.

Important Technical Specifications

  • Maximum Pressure: 1 MPa
  • Recommended Pressure: 0.1 - 0.5 MPa
  • Maximum Temperature of Hot Water: 90°C
  • Recommended Temperature of Hot Water: 65°C

The tap's construction includes a ceramic cartridge (No. 6) for durable and precise water control. It is designed for installation with offset connectors (No. 18) into G1/2 female threaded water feed sections. The connections are critical for proper function, with cold water fed to the right side and hot water to the left side (when looking from the front of the tap).

Usage Features

The operation of the OLTENS bath shower mixer tap is intuitive and user-friendly:

  • Starting Water Flow: To initiate water flow, the handle (No. 3) should be turned vertically upwards. The further it is turned upwards, the greater the water flow rate.
  • Adjusting Water Temperature:
    • To increase water temperature, turn the handle to the left.
    • To reduce water temperature, turn the handle to the right.
    • Positioning the handle at the extreme left will result in the flow of hot water only.
    • Positioning the handle at the extreme right will result in the flow of cold water only.
  • Shower Diverter: The tap includes a shower diverter (No. 8), which allows the user to switch the water flow from the bath spout to a connected shower head.
  • Outlet Nozzle: The tap is equipped with an outlet nozzle (No. 11) and an aerator (No. 9, 10) to ensure a smooth and consistent water stream.

Installation Procedure:

  1. Offset Connectors Installation: Screw the offset connectors (No. 18) into the G1/2 female threaded water feed sections. Ensure proper sealing using Teflon tape or thread sealant. After installation, verify that the axes of the openings in the offset connectors (from the tap side) are at the same height, their face surfaces are equidistant from the wall, and the spacing matches the distance between the tap body's connection nuts. Crucially, cold water must be connected to the right side of the tap and hot water to the left side (when viewed from the front). The connection axes should be perpendicular to the wall and parallel to each other.
  2. Rosettes and Tap Body Installation: Place rosettes (No. 17) onto the offset connectors. Insert seals (No. 16) into the connection nuts (No. 15) of the tap body. Screw the tap body onto the offset connectors (No. 18). Secure the tap body from the bottom using two Allen head screws.
  3. Post-Installation Check: After completing the installation, it is essential to check all connections to ensure they are tight and free from leaks.

Maintenance Features

Proper care and maintenance are crucial for the longevity and optimal performance of the OLTENS bath shower mixer tap:

  • Regular Cleaning: For routine cleaning, flush the tap with clean water and wipe it dry with a soft cloth. This helps prevent water spots and minor build-up.
  • Dealing with Heavier Deposits: For more stubborn deposits, it is recommended to use specialized tap cleaning agents. Oltens suggests using professional products from their NanoCare and NanoShine series, which are formulated to be effective yet gentle on the tap's surface.
  • Avoid Harsh Cleaners: Never use cleaning agents that contain alcohol, disinfectants, solvents, or strong bases. These chemicals can damage the tap's finish and internal components.
  • Avoid Abrasive Materials: Do not clean the tap's surface with rough cloths or cleaning agents that contain abrasive materials or acids. Abrasives can scratch the finish, while acids can corrode it.

General Notes:

  • The manufacturer pre-assembles, installs, and checks the tap body before release; therefore, it should not be disassembled by the user.
  • Prior to installation, the piping system should be thoroughly flushed to remove any debris such as sand, limescale, and sludge. This prevents potential damage to the tap's internal mechanisms and ensures clean water flow.
  • The provided drawings in the fitting guide are for illustration and instruction purposes only. The actual appearance of the tap may vary slightly depending on the specific model.
  • Accessories included with the tap may change without affecting its core function. The size and shape of the tap are dependent on the selected model.
