(Flash mode)/ (Protect) button
Flash mode selections
To use the flash, press the (flash) switch to extrude the built-in flash from the camera
housing.
Each time you press the (flash mode) button, the flash mode changes as shown
below.
Selection Display
No display (factory

Functions
Automatically fires in low-
light and backlight
conditions. (Auto-Flash)
Significantly reduces the
phenomenon of “red-eye”
(subject’s eyes appearing
red).
(Red-Eye Reduction flash)
Always fires regardless of
the lightning conditions.
(Fill-in flash)
Adjusts the flash for slow
shutter speeds.
(Slow synchronization)
For situations where flash
is prohibited, or when not
using the flash. (Flash off)

(AE lock/Custom)/ (Rotation) button
Assigning a function — Custom button
The factory default setting of this button is AE lock. Other settings can be selected from
CUSTOM BUTTON in the Menu.
Using the function just assigned: Press the button to display the function
indication. Press it repeatedly until the desired setting appears.
