CHARGE AND INSERT THE BATTERY
a. Connect the power cable and insert the
battery into the charger and charge
completely (when fully charged, the indicator
turns green - approx. 120 min.).
b. Make sure the camera is off.
c. Open the battery compartment/card cover
and insert the battery with correct orientation.

a. Orient and insert the card into the card slot.
b. Close the battery compartment/card cover.

a. Set the mode dial to K and
press the POWER switch.
The lens barrier opens, the lens
extends and the monitor turns
on.
Note: To turn the camera off,
press the POWER switch again.
The lens retracts, the lens
barrier closes and the monitor
turns off.

a. With the camera on, press e.
b. Use the arrow pad to select [MODE MENU].
c. Select the [SETUP] tab and press . Select [X]
and press .
d. Select the date format and press .
e. Use or to set each item and press to
move to the next item.
f. Press e when you have finished entering the
date and time.

a. Place the AF target mark on your subject using
the monitor.
b. Press the shutter button halfway to lock the focus
and exposure, then press the shutter button
completely to take the picture.

REVIEWING A PICTURE
a. Press the QUICK VIEW button.
The last picture taken is displayed.
b. Use the arrow pad to display the
picture you want.
c. Press the QUICK VIEW button
again when you are ready to take
another picture.

CONNECTING THE CAMERA
TO A COMPUTER
a. Connect the one end of the USB cable (included) to the computer.

b. Connect the other end of the USB cable to
the camera. The camera turns on automatically.
c. Select [PC] on the
camera’s monitor and
press e.

VERIFY CAMERA CONNECTION
Windows:
a. From the desktop (“Start“
menu for XP), open “My
Computer“.
b. Verify that the “Removable
Disk“ icon representing the
camera is displayed.
Macintosh:
a. Verify that the “NO_NAME“ icon representing the
camera is displayed.
•The above steps confirm that the camera has been installed
correctly. You can transfer your images immediately using the
standard drag and drop procedure, or enhance your experience using
OLYMPUS Master image editing software (included).

      If your Olympus Digital Camera does not turn on or the function buttons are unresponsive, first ensure the power is on by pressing the POWER switch. If that doesn't work, the battery may be exhausted, so charge it. In cold conditions, warm the battery in your pocket. Also, check if the camera is in sleep mode; if so, press the shutter or zoom button. Lastly, the camera will not operate while connected to a computer.

      If your Olympus Digital Camera isn't taking pictures when you press the shutter button, the battery might be exhausted, so charge it. Ensure the camera isn't in playback mode by setting the mode dial to a mode other than q or X. If the flash is charging, wait until the # (flash charge) indication stops blinking. Also, the card might be full; erase unwanted pictures or insert a new card, remembering to download important images first. Check if the battery ran out of power during shooting, indicated by the monitor turning off or the battery check indicator blinking, and charge the battery. Finally, wait until there is space in the memory gauge.

      If pictures you've taken don't appear on the monitor of your Olympus Digital Camera, ensure the power is on and set the mode dial to q or X, then press the POWER switch. If it's in shooting mode, press the QUICK VIEW button or set the mode dial to q or X. If “NO PICTURE” is displayed, it means there are no pictures on the card, so record some. The monitor also won't function if the camera is connected to a TV.

      If the monitor on your Olympus Digital Camera is hard to see, condensation might be inside the camera; turn it off and wait until it dries. Adjust the monitor's brightness by selecting [s] in the mode menu. If the monitor is exposed to direct sunlight, block the sunlight with your hand. Note that vertical lines may appear when aiming at a bright subject in sunlight, which is not a malfunction.

      If the battery run time of your Olympus Digital Camera is brief, it could be due to using the camera in a cold environment, as battery performance deteriorates in low temperatures. Keep the camera warm by putting it inside your coat or clothing. Also, the remaining battery power might not be indicated correctly; if consumption fluctuates, charge the battery.

      If the flash on your Olympus Digital Camera doesn't fire, check if it's set to [$] and select a different flash mode. If the subject is brightly illuminated, set the flash to fill-in mode. Note that the flash doesn't fire in movie mode, so select a different shooting mode. Also, the flash doesn't fire in super macro mode, so set the macro to [&OFF] or [&]. Finally, the flash does not fire in panorama mode.

      If your Olympus Digital Camera printer fails to connect, it may be because PC was selected on the monitor after connecting the camera to the printer with the USB cable. Remove the USB cable and start again from Step 1 of “Connecting the camera to a printer.” Also, the printer may not support PictBridge; refer to the printer’s instruction manual or contact the manufacturer.
