Overview

This document is a user manual for the Olywiz HTD-828 Two-way radio, providing detailed information on its functions, technical specifications, usage, and maintenance.

Function Description:

The Olywiz HTD-828 is a GMRS radio designed for two-way communication. It features a range of auxiliary functions to enhance user experience and communication efficiency.

  • Squelch Level Setting: Allows adjustment of the squelch level (0-9, default 4) via programming software. A higher squelch level prevents reception of weak signals, while a lower level may result in background noise.
  • Time-out Timer (TOT): Prevents prolonged channel occupation. If a user transmits beyond a preset time (default 60 seconds), the radio will beep and automatically stop transmitting. Releasing the PTT button resumes normal operation. A pre-alarm TOT function can alert users before the time expires.
  • Voice Prompt: Announces the channel number. The voice prompt language can be switched between English, Chinese, and Silent Mode by holding the Function button during power-on. Silent Mode disables all beeps and tones.
  • Monitor Function: Mutes the speaker automatically when no signal is received to eliminate background noise. Pressing and holding the Monitor button allows users to hear background noise, useful for adjusting volume or checking channel activity.
  • Scan Function: Enables the radio to scan for active channels. To activate, power off the radio, switch to Channel 15, then long-press the PTT button while powering on. The radio will beep twice to confirm activation. Once in Scan Mode, switching to Channel 15 will cause the radio to beep once and automatically enter scan. The radio will pause on an active channel, and transmission is possible by pressing the PTT button. Scanning resumes after 3 seconds of inactivity.
  • FM Radio Function (Optional): To enter FM Radio Mode, power off the radio, then long-press the Monitor button while powering on. The radio will beep twice. The Monitor button can be used to search, and the Function button to exit.
  • Power Saving: Automatically enters Battery Saving mode after 5 seconds of inactivity (no signal received/transmitted or button operation) to conserve power. The radio exits this mode upon receiving a signal or any button operation.
  • Low Battery Alert: The radio beeps every 10 seconds when the battery level is low, prompting the user to recharge.
  • CTCSS/DCS: Supports CTCSS/DCS Privacy Codes (PC programmable) on channels 1-15. All radios in a group must use the same channel and privacy code for communication. Privacy codes can only be set via programming software.
