Overview

The Omera Oil-Hydraulic Press with Two Uprights, model OPI.M - 315, is a double-effect machine designed for blanking, coining, and drawing steel plates. It features a monolithic structure made of welded sheet metal, heat-treated and sand-blasted to eliminate residual internal stress and ensure maximum rigidity. The slide, also made of heat-treated welded steel plate, is guided by eight self-lubricating sliding blocks with a play take-up device. The lower surface of the slide has T-shaped milled grooves for accommodating dies. The table is constructed from extra-thick steel to prevent bending and includes T-shaped milled grooves and holes for blank-holder pressure pins. The main cylinder is made of single-piece cast steel, internally ground and lapped, while the piston is made of ground and tempered steel, guided by special bronze bushes and sealed with gaskets.

Usage Features:

The press is controlled by a hanging push-button board and a control console. The main control pulpit must be positioned at the front of the press for manual loading and unloading.

  • Electronic Cycle Cams: A programmable electronic system, using two wire encoders, controls slide and blank-holder positions and solenoid valve sequences. Parameters like Top Dead Center (T.D.C.), Braking point, Bottom Dead Center (B.D.C.), and Knockout intervention point are programmable via an Industrial PC.
  • Blank Holder Cushion: Oil-hydraulic, with a steel cylinder under the table, adjustable force, and sliding on ground and hardened steel columns. Its position and counter force during drawing are set via the Industrial PC.
  • Functioning Modes:
    • Adjustment Cycle: For die replacement and setting, allowing slow slide and blank-holder movement.
    • Single Cycle Without Blank Holder: Fast downstroke, braking, drawing, movement inversion, and slide upstroke to T.D.C.
    • Single Cycle with Independent Blank Holder: Similar to single cycle, with blank holder rising independently at T.D.C.
    • Single Cycle with Direct Blank Holder: Similar to single cycle, with blank holder rising with the slide.
  • Die Loading/Unloading: Involves selecting the adjustment cycle, locking/stopping the slide at T.D.C., positioning the blank holder, cleaning surfaces, and securing the die.
  • Automatic Feeder Operation: The press is pre-arranged for interfacing with standard sheet metal feeders. Safety barriers must be adapted, and specific checks performed before operation.
  • Slide Holding Device: An automatic oil-hydraulic device physically blocks the slide's downstroke when the machine is inactive. A limit switch deactivates downstroke control if the slide is locked at T.D.C.
  • Knockout: An oil-hydraulic cylinder inside the slide piston ensures automatic removal of drawn pieces during slide upstroke. It can also function as a "THIRD EFFECT" cushion during downstroke.

Maintenance Features:

  • Oil Leaks: Inspect and tighten pipe fittings every 300-400 working hours. Low oil level is signaled by the Industrial PC.
  • Oil Filter: The Industrial PC signals clogging. The filter cartridge (MPS 350 R G1 P10 A FX, Omera code 76801060) and cartridge (CS 150 - P10A, Omera Code 76801120) should be replaced as soon as possible.
  • Tank Air Filter: Clean or replace the cartridge (SA 185 G1 L10 A, Omera Code 76807017; cartridge A 10 L10, Omera Code 76807038) every 500 working hours, or sooner in dusty environments.
  • Oil Change: Change oil (ESSO NUTO H 46 or equivalent) every 2000 working hours.
  • P.L.C. Central Unit: The "memory card" can be replaced by following a specific procedure involving CPU key manipulation and program loading via the Industrial PC.
  • Main Cylinder & Blank Holder Cushion Cylinder: Omera S.r.l. supplies complete replacement gasket sets, not individual gaskets.
  • Slide Play Take-up: The self-lubricating sliding shoes allow play adjustment in lengthways (face A) and crossways (face B) directions by loosening/tightening screws and inserting/removing shims.
  • Lubrication System: Regularly check grease level in the tank (ESSO BEACON - EP1, 2 Kg) and refill when run out, using the provided filter.
  • Encoder: Position transducers for slide and blank-holder stroke. Safety limit switches (TELEMECANIQUE ZCK-J1 + ZCK-E67) prevent overstroke and should be checked for correct function during maintenance.
  • Maintenance Schedule: The Industrial PC displays recommended maintenance intervals. A summary table outlines interventions like oil replacement, checking leaks, filter replacement, heat exchanger efficiency, grease level, gib tolerance, seals, and safety devices.
  • Long Periods of Inactivity: Run the machine for about 1 hour every two months.
