Overview

This document describes the features and functionalities of the ONE FOR ALL URC-7140 universal remote control, focusing on its advanced capabilities such as Mode Reassignment, Key Magic®, Macro programming, and Set Up Code retrieval.

Mode Reassignment

The Mode Reassignment feature allows users to program two or more devices of the same type onto the ONE FOR ALL remote. For instance, if you have two televisions, you can reassign one of the existing device modes (e.g., "SAT" mode) to control a second television.

To reassign a mode:

  1. Press and hold the "magic" key for 3 seconds until a mode indicator (Blue LED) stays lit.
  2. Press "9 9 2". The blue LED will blink twice.
  3. Select the destination device mode you wish to reassign (e.g., "SAT" if you want to change it to control a second TV).
  4. Select the corresponding device you want to control (e.g., "TV").
  5. Press and release the "magic" key. The blue LED will blink twice, confirming the reassignment. Once reassigned, you can program your second television using the "ONE FOR ALL SimpleSet," "Direct Code Set Up," or "Search Method" in the newly reassigned mode.

To reset a device mode to its original function:

  1. Press and hold the "magic" key for 3 seconds until a mode indicator (Blue LED) stays lit.
  2. Press "9 9 2".
  3. Select the corresponding device mode you wish to reset to its original mode (e.g., "SAT").
  4. Press the "MAGIC" key twice. The blue LED will blink twice.

Key Magic®

Key Magic® is an exclusive ONE FOR ALL feature that allows users to obtain and assign functions from their lost or broken original remote control to any key on the ONE FOR ALL remote. This is particularly useful for functions that may not have a dedicated key on the universal remote.

To use Key Magic®:

  1. Identify the missing function from your original remote.
  2. Contact Customer Service to request a 5-digit Key Magic® function code for the desired function. When contacting, provide:
    • The current code you are using (found using "What is my Set Up Code again?").
    • Device type, brand, and model number of the corresponding device.
    • Model number of the original lost or broken remote control.
    • How the function was labeled on your original remote control.
  3. Once you have the 5-digit function code:
    • Select the source device (e.g., "TV").
    • Press and hold the "magic" key for 3 seconds until a mode indicator (Blue LED) stays lit.
    • Press "9 9 4". The blue LED will blink twice.
    • Press and release the "magic" key.
    • Enter the 5-digit function code provided by Customer Service (e.g., "00123").
    • Press the key to which the function will be assigned (e.g., the "red key"). The blue LED will blink twice.
    • Congratulations! The function is now programmed. For example, if you assigned "I/II (mono/stereo)" to the red key, pressing the red key in TV mode will now activate that function.

To reset a key to obtain its original function:

  1. Select the corresponding device mode (e.g., "TV").
  2. Press and hold the "magic" key for 3 seconds until a mode indicator (Blue LED) stays lit.
  3. Press "9 9 4".
  4. Press the corresponding key (e.g., the "red key") twice.

Macro Programming

The Macro feature allows you to program a sequence of commands to be executed with the press of a single key. This simplifies complex or frequently used command sequences.

To set up a Macro (e.g., "dvd STOP," "dvd OFF," "tv OFF" on the "red key"):

  1. Press and hold the "magic" key for 3 seconds until a mode indicator (Blue LED) stays lit.
  2. Press "9 9 5". The blue LED will blink twice.
  3. Press the key to which the function will be assigned (e.g., the "red key").
  4. Select the corresponding device for the first command (e.g., "DVD").
  5. Press the first command key (e.g., "STOP").
  6. Select the corresponding device for the second command (e.g., "DVD").
  7. Press the second command key (e.g., "POWER").
  8. Select the corresponding device for the third command (e.g., "TV").
  9. Press the third command key (e.g., "POWER").
  10. Press and hold the "magic" key for 3 seconds. The blue LED will blink twice and then switch off. Now, whenever you press the "red key," the sequence of commands (dvd STOP, dvd OFF, tv OFF) will be executed in any device mode.

To reset the macro key to obtain its original function:

  1. Press and hold the "magic" key for 3 seconds until a mode indicator (Blue LED) stays lit.
  2. Press "9 9 5".
  3. Press the corresponding macro key (e.g., the "red key").
  4. Press and hold the "magic" key for 3 seconds. The blue LED will blink twice.

What is my "Set Up Code" again?

This feature helps you find out which 4-digit set up code is currently programmed under each of the 4 device modes (TV, SAT, DVD, AMP). This is useful if you've forgotten the code or need it for customer service.

To find the set up code (e.g., for "TV" mode):

  1. Press and hold the "magic" key for 3 seconds until a mode indicator (Blue LED) stays lit.
  2. Select the corresponding device (e.g., "TV").
  3. Press "9 9 0". The blue LED will blink twice.
  4. To find the first digit: Press "1" and count how many times the LED blinks. If it doesn't blink, the digit is "0".
  5. To find the second digit: Press "2" and count how many times the LED blinks. If it doesn't blink, the digit is "0".
  6. To find the third digit: Press "3" and count how many times the LED blinks. If it doesn't blink, the digit is "0".
  7. To find the fourth digit: Press "4" and count how many times the LED blinks. If it doesn't blink, the digit is "0". You have successfully blinked out your current Set Up Code for the selected mode. Repeat for other modes as needed.

Operational Reset

The Operational Reset feature will erase all learned functions across all modes and some other programmed functions like Key Magic and Macros, restoring the remote to its factory default state.

To perform an Operational Reset:

  1. Press and hold the "magic" key for 3 seconds until a mode indicator (Blue LED) stays lit.
  2. Press "9 8 0". The blue LED will blink twice, confirming the reset.
