Overview

This document describes the SHARK Simultaneous Measurement Dual Sensor, designed for cycling speed and cadence.

Function Description

The SHARK sensor is a dual-sensor device that simultaneously measures both cycling speed and cadence. It utilizes Bluetooth 5.0 and ANT+ wireless technologies to transmit data. The device is designed to be attached to a bicycle, with specific components for detecting speed and cadence. Speed is typically measured via a magnet attached to a spoke or air inlet, detected by the main sensor. Cadence is measured via a magnet attached to the pedal bolt groove of the crank arm, also detected by the main sensor. The device features an LED display to indicate its status, including battery level and magnet detection.

Important Technical Specifications

  • Product Name: Cycling Speed & Cadence Dual Sensor
  • Model: B SHARK (BS-50)
  • Dimensions: 48 x 43 x 27 mm
  • Weight: 25g (including battery & magnet)

  • Battery Life: Up to 600 hours
  • Operating Temperature: -20°C to 60°C
  • Measurement Range:
    • Speed: Up to 120 km/h
    • Cadence: Up to 260 rpm
  • Wireless Connectivity: Bluetooth 5.0, ANT+
  • Magnet Detection Distance:
    • Cadence/Spoke Magnet: Max 25mm (MTB, hybrid bike)
    • Ring Magnet: Max 10mm (Road bike)
    • Ring Magnets (speed sensor): 5-22mm apart from the speed sensor

Usage Features

Installation: The installation process involves several steps for both the sensor and the magnets:

  1. Cadence Magnet Attachment: The cadence magnet is attached to the pedal bolt groove of the crank arm.
  2. Dual Lock Pad Frame Attachment: A dual lock pad is attached to the inner side of the rear wheel frame where the sensor will be installed.
  3. Sensor Installation & Second Fix: The sensor is attached to the dual lock pad on the frame, ensuring the arrow on the sensor points in the correct direction. The sensor can be detached/attached from this pad. For added security, the sensor body is fixed to the frame using a rubber ring and the body fixing groove.
  4. Speed Sensor Magnet Installation:
    • Spoke Magnets: The screw cap of the spoke magnet is unscrewed, the magnet is attached to a spoke so it faces the speed sensor, and then the screw cap is tightened to fix it. Care must be taken to avoid collision between the sensor and the spoke magnet.
    • Ring Magnet (for Presta valve only): The fixing screw at the bottom of the air inlet is separated. The ring magnet is inserted first, followed by the fixing screw or a small rubber ring to secure it.
    • Caution: Only one type of speed sensor magnet (ring or spoke) should be installed at a time; installing both can lead to data errors and product failure.

Magnet Detection Check: Before attaching the dual lock pad, it's recommended to check if the sensor detects the magnets correctly. This ensures proper functionality.

LED Display Status: The device features an LED display to indicate its operational status:

  • Battery Level:
    • Over 10%: Green LED flashes 2 times in saving mode, 3 times when powered on.
    • Less than 10% (Replace battery): Red LED flashes 2 times in saving mode, 3 times when powered on.
  • Magnet Detection:
    • Speed magnet detected: Green LED flashes 1 time.
    • Cadence magnet detected: Red LED flashes 1 time.
  • Power Saving Mode: The device enters power saving mode approximately 30 minutes after stopping. Detecting a cadence sensor wakes it up from this mode.
  • Malfunction: If the battery is insufficient, the product may malfunction.

Cautions for Park/Stop: To prolong battery life, it is advised to keep the magnet at least 5cm away from the sensor when the bicycle is parked or stopped.

Maintenance Features

Battery Installation / Replacement:

  1. Remove Battery Cover: Rotate the cover consistently to separate it from the sensor.
  2. Insert Battery: Remove the insulating paper from the negative (-) terminal of the CR2032 battery and insert the battery into the cover.
  3. Insert Battery Cover: Align the center point of the cover with the corresponding mark on the sensor, press to close completely, and then align the cover with the other mark.
  4. Confirm Operation: After installation, check for battery contact and green LED flashing (refer to '8. LED Display Status').
  5. Dual Lock Pad Attachment: Remove the protective film from the back of the dual lock pad and attach it to the left and right grooves of the sensor's battery cover.
