available fully supports this principle. Options extend from the lively yet
frugal 1.4i 16v VVT petrol unit to the impressive 165PS diesel engine. And with
a choice of ecoFLEX models available – plus cutting edge Start/Stop
technology to help reduce fuel bills in traffic – Astra models are as
responsible as they are responsive.

The choice is yours. Drivers can select from three powerful yet
highly efficient petrol engines and four hugely responsive turbo
diesels, many matched with slick six-speed gearboxes or – on
selected units – an optional six-speed automatic transmission.
Petrol choice incudes a 100PS 1.4i 16v VVT unit, a free-revving
115PS 1.6i 16v VVT engine and a powerful 1.4i 16v VVT Turbo
producing 140PS.
Diesel choice is equally impressive. The top-the-range 165PS
Start/Stop engine develops a sensational 350Nm of torque
providing excellent power combined with emissions as low as
124g/km. There is also a versatile 1.3CDTi 16v common rail
diesel developing 95PS and a choice of 1.7CDTi 16v common
rail diesels delivering 110PS and 130PS.
In many cases, the units can be specified with Opel’s proven
fuel saving and emissions reducing Start/Stop technology. This
innovative system switches the engine off when you stop at the
lights or in traffic, then restarts it automatically once the clutch
is depressed. A wide range of in-built safety checks ensures
total peace-of-mind in all circumstances. Start/Stop is also an
essential feature of our market-leading ecoFLEX models (110g/km
Hatchback, 106g/km saloon and 109g/km Sports Tourer) which
employ advanced features including low rolling resistance tyres,
lowered chassis, active aero shutter and ‘Eco’ instruments to limit
emissions and reduce fuel consumption to the absolute minimum.
