Fully assemble product prior to use.
Operate vacuum only at voltage specified on
data plate on bottom of cleaner.
Do not leave vacuum when plugged in. Unplug
from outlet when not in use and before
cleaning or servicing.
Do not use outdoors or on wet surfaces.
Do not allow to be used as a toy. Not intended
for use by children age 12 and under. Close
supervision is necessary when used by or
near children. To avoid injury or damage, keep
children away from product, and do not allow
children to place fingers or other objects into
any openings.
Use only as described in this manual. Use only
manufacturer’s recommended attachments
and products.
Do not use with damaged power cord or
plug. If vacuum is not working as it should,
has been dropped, damaged, left outdoors,
or dropped into water, have the product
inspected by an Authorized Oreck® Service
Center prior to continuing use. Call
1-800-989-3535 for the nearest service center
or visit our website at www.oreck.com.
Do not pull or carry by power cord, use cord
as handle, close a door on cord, or pull cord
around sharp edges or corners. Do not run
vacuum over cord. Keep cord away from
heated surfaces.
Do not unplug by pulling on cord. To unplug,
grasp the plug, not the cord.
Do not handle plug or vacuum with wet hands.
Do not put any objects into openings. Do not
use with any opening blocked; keep free of
dust, lint, hair, and anything that may reduce
air flow.
Keep hair, loose clothing, fingers, and all
parts of body away from openings and moving
parts. Brushroll continues to operate when in
the upright position.
Turn o all controls before unplugging.
Use extra care when cleaning on stairs. Do not
place vacuum on stairs or furniture, as it may
result in injury or damage.
Do not use to pick up flammable or
combustible liquids, such as gasoline, or fine
wood sandings or use in areas where they
may be present.
Do not pick up anything that is burning or
smoking, such as cigarettes, matches, or hot
ashes.
Do not use without inner filtration bag in
place.
CAUTION - TO REDUCE THE RISK OF
DAMAGE
Avoid picking up hard, sharp objects with this
product, as they may cause damage.
Store appropriately indoors in a dry place. Do
not expose machine to freezing temperatures.
With brushroll on, do not allow product to sit
in one location for an extended period of time,
as damage to floor can result.
Brush roll continues to turn while product is
turned on and handle is in upright position.
To avoid damage to carpet, rugs, and flooring,
avoid tipping cleaner or setting it on furniture,
fringed area rugs, or carpeted stairs during
tool use.
WARNING - TO REDUCE THE RISK OF
ELECTRIC SHOCK
This appliance has a polarized plug (one blade
is wider than the other). This plug will fit in a
polarized outlet only one way. If the plug does
not fit fully in the outlet, reverse the plug. If it
still does not fit, contact a qualified electrician
to install the proper outlet. Do not alter the plug
in any way.

ASSEMBLY
1.
Your new Oreck Discover Vacuum will come with
2 pieces, the body and the handle.
2.
Ensure the lower tube connector is tightened
clockwise.
3.
Attach vacuum handle to the upper tube with
the power button facing away from the user.
4.
Insert the handle into the upper tube until you
hear the “click” and the pushpin is fully through
the hole on the upper tube.
OPERATION
Fully assemble or install product prior to
use.
OPERATING THE ORECK
DISCOVER
Make sure the disposable inner bag is in place.
Do not operate the vacuum without a disposable
inner bag. Plug the power cord into an electrical
outlet and press the ON/OFF switch on the back
of the vacuum when ready to operate. Press the
button once to turn the unit on high, press a
second time for low speed, and a third time to
turn the unit o.

Up-Position Lock - Place foot on power head
and lean handle back gently to release lock for
vacuum use. Return handle to the full upright
position to engage lock.
NOTE: Do not operate the vacuum while in the
upright and locked position. With brushroll on,
do not allow cleaner to sit in one location for
an extended period of time, as damage to floor
can result.

Easy Power Cord Storage - Turn cord release
to the up position, wrap power cord around cord
release and lower cord bracket located below
the carry handle.

Carry Handle - The carry handle is located on
back of the vacuum for easy lifting and carrying.
INNER BAG REMOVAL

Connect Vacuum Handle

Unzip outer bag, release bag dock, and pull collar outward to remove the old bag.

Install New Bag

Slide new bag collar onto dock, then push dock door until it snaps securely.

HEPA Odor Fighting Inner Bag

Bag Function and Importance

Disposable inner bag traps dirt and allows air passage for vacuum efficiency.

Using Oreck Bags

Use Oreck HEPA or non-HEPA bags for optimal cleaning ability and to prevent damage.

Stuffing or Blockage

Identify and Clear Blockages

Check intake opening, fan housing, and tubes for debris and clear using tools.

Reassemble Tube Assembly

Insert tube, push down until seated, and tighten collar clockwise to lock.

Maintenance

General Care and Cleaning

Wipe vacuum with damp cloth, clean deflector assembly, and outer bag.

Brush Roll Maintenance

Check monthly for lint, string, or hair; clean grooves; wipe vacuum exterior.

Motor Protection Shutdown

Cleaner stops if overheating; headlights flash. Unplug, check bag, clear obstruction.

Lubrication

Motor and brushroll bearings are lifetime lubricated; do not add lubricant.

Troubleshooting

Vacuum Will Not Run

Check power cord connection, wall outlet, and clear any blockages.

Vacuum Does Not Pick Up

Check for thermal shutdown, full bag, clogs, worn brush, or clogged pores.
