Overview

The OVE Kelsey 60 is a shower enclosure designed for residential use, offering a sleek and functional addition to any bathroom. This manual provides comprehensive instructions for its installation, operation, and maintenance, ensuring a safe and long-lasting product experience.

Function Description:

The Kelsey 60 is a shower enclosure system that creates a defined showering space within a bathroom. It consists of a fixed glass panel and a sliding glass door, designed to be installed on a shower base (sold separately). The enclosure provides a barrier against water splash, keeping the rest of the bathroom dry. Its sliding door mechanism allows for easy access and egress, making it suitable for various bathroom layouts. The design emphasizes both aesthetic appeal and practical functionality, with tempered glass panels for safety and durable hardware for reliable operation. The enclosure is reversible, meaning it can be configured for either a right-to-left or left-to-right door opening, offering flexibility during installation to suit the specific bathroom design and user preference.

Important Technical Specifications:

  • Shower Height (A): 76 inches [1930 mm]
  • Shower Width (B - Min. without cutting the bar): 59 3/8 inches [1508 mm]
  • Fixed Panel Width (C): 28 9/16 inches [726 mm]
  • Door Panel Width (D): 32 1/2 inches [825 mm]
  • Door Opening (E): 24 13/16 inches [630 mm]
  • Distance Between Handle Holes (F): 7 1/16 inches [180 mm]
  • Wall-to-Wall Dimensions (D - tile to tile): Minimum 1508 mm (59 3/8 in), Maximum 1524 mm (60 in). This range is crucial for proper installation, and the support bar may be trimmed if the wall opening is smaller, but only on the side without holes.
  • Glass Type: Tempered glass, designed to shatter into small, blunt pieces for safety in case of breakage.
  • Hardware Materials: Satin Nickel / Satiné / Satinado or Matt Black / Noir Mat / Negro Mate finishes available for various components, including wall track, support bar anchors, door stoppers, support bar, fixed panel brackets, door rollers, door anti-jump pegs, door handle, decorative caps, decorative track, and aluminum profile.
  • Fasteners: Various screws (ST5x30mm, ST4x20mm, ST4x12mm, ST5x35mm), wall anchors (Ø8x30mm), and Allen keys (2mm, 2.5mm, 5mm) are supplied for installation.
  • Estimated Assembly Time: 2 hours (for the shower enclosure itself, excluding base and side panel installation).
  • Required Tools (not supplied): Pencil, screwdriver, drill and drill bits (ø1/8" (3mm) & ø5/16" (8mm)), cutter, measuring tape, level, silicone sealant, rubber mallet, safety glasses, and ratchet with 5mm bit socket.
  • Weight Accommodation: The shower must be installed on a floor that is level and capable of accommodating the weight of the unit and an occupant.
  • Torque Specification: Support bolts for fixed glass panels or door panels can withstand up to 250 lbf*in of torque.

Usage Features:

  • Reversibility: The shower enclosure can be installed with the door opening from right-to-left (Illustration A) or left-to-right (Illustration B) by simply switching the panel positions. This flexibility is a significant advantage for adapting to different bathroom layouts.
  • Sliding Door Mechanism: The enclosure features a smooth-gliding sliding door, facilitated by door rollers (G) and a wall track (A). This design saves space compared to hinged doors, making it ideal for smaller bathrooms.
  • Anti-Jump Pegs: Door anti-jump pegs (H) are installed to prevent the door from derailing from the track, ensuring safe and consistent operation.
  • Adjustable Leveling: The glass panel can be leveled using an eccentric mechanism within the door rollers. By using two different sized Allen keys, the user can adjust the glass panel's height to achieve a perfect fit and seal, minimizing gaps and potential leaks.
  • Seal Strips: Various seal strips (short seal strip (J), glass panel vertical seal strip (N), door vertical seal strip (P), fixed panel bottom seal strip (L), and door bottom seal strip (M)) are integral to the design, ensuring a watertight enclosure and preventing water leakage.
  • Door Stopper Functionality: Roller stoppers (D) are positioned on the support bar (E) to prevent the door panel from hitting the wall when opening or closing, protecting both the glass and the surrounding structure.
  • Shower Head Placement: The manual explicitly recommends installing the shower head on the door's side as shown in the illustration to reduce the risk of leaking, highlighting a key design consideration for optimal performance.

Maintenance Features:

  • Daily Cleaning: For daily maintenance, the enclosure should be cleaned with a wet cloth and a soft liquid cleaner. This gentle approach helps preserve the finish and integrity of the materials.
  • Avoid Harsh Cleaners: Users are strictly advised against using abrasive cleaners containing acetone, chlorine, strong bleach, scrapers, metallic brushes, or any other objects or products that could scratch or tarnish surfaces. This protects the specialized finishes of the hardware and the glass.
  • Regular Bolt Checks: All bolts used to support the fixed glass panels or door panels should be checked every 4 months and re-tightened if necessary. This ensures the structural integrity of the enclosure and prevents components from loosening over time, which could lead to safety issues or leaks. The manual specifies that support bolts can withstand up to 250 lbf*in of torque.
  • Silicone Sealant Application: After installation, a clear silicone water sealant must be applied around the outside perimeter of all fixed shower components. It is crucial to allow 24 hours for the silicone to dry and cure properly, as improper application or insufficient drying time can lead to leaks. This step is vital for maintaining the watertight integrity of the enclosure.
  • Product Warranty: OVE offers a limited product warranty, including 5 years for shower doors and acrylic surfaces (against blistering, cracking, or chipping), 5 years for acrylic shell structure (against water loss through fiberglass laminate), and 1 year for shower hardware (against defects in materials or workmanship). This warranty is for the original retail purchaser and applies to non-commercial applications. Regular maintenance, as outlined in the manual, is essential to uphold the warranty.
