Overview

The Ovente Electric Cast-Iron Burner (BGS101 Series) is a versatile and compact cooking appliance designed for heating and cooking food. Its primary function is to provide a portable and efficient heat source for various culinary tasks, making it suitable for small kitchens, dorm rooms, offices, or as an extra burner for entertaining.

Function Description:

The core of the Ovente Electric Cast-Iron Burner is its 7.0-inch cast-iron plate, which is engineered to deliver quick and sustained heat. This robust heating element, powered by a 1000-watt burner, ensures that food heats up quickly and evenly. The cast-iron material is known for its excellent heat retention properties, allowing for consistent cooking temperatures even after the power is adjusted or turned off. This makes it ideal for simmering, boiling, frying, and keeping food warm. The burner is specifically designed for use with flat-based cookware made of stainless steel, aluminum, or ceramic. It is crucial to avoid using glass cookware, as well as pans with concave or uneven bases, to ensure optimal performance and safety. The size of the cookware should also be smaller than the cast-iron plate for efficient heat transfer.

Usage Features:

Operating the Ovente Electric Cast-Iron Burner is straightforward, with user-friendly controls that allow for precise temperature management. Before initial use, it is recommended to remove all packaging materials and wipe the cast-iron burner and its base with a soft, damp cloth, then dry it thoroughly. The appliance should always be placed on a level, stable, and heat-resistant surface, ensuring adequate space (4-6 inches) from other appliances and furniture to prevent heat damage.

To begin, plug the power cord into a standard electrical outlet. For the first use, turn the adjustable temperature control to the highest setting (5) and let the burner run for 3-5 minutes. This process helps to burn off any manufacturing residues, which may produce a slight odor or smoke initially. Once this is complete, the burner is ready for use.

To cook, place your chosen cookware on the burner and turn the temperature control to the desired heat setting, ranging from 2 to 5. The indicator light on the appliance will illuminate to signal that the unit is heating. This light will turn off once the burner reaches the selected temperature, indicating that the desired heat has been achieved. The adjustable temperature control allows you to set your ideal cooking temperature, providing flexibility for different recipes and cooking needs.

The heating select switch offers five distinct temperature settings:

  • Knob 1: 170°F
  • Knob 2: 230°F
  • Knob 3: 280°F
  • Knob 4: 305°F
  • Knob 5: 330°F

For keeping food warm, simply turn the temperature control to setting number 2 (230°F). The cast-iron plate's excellent heat retention will maintain a constant warm temperature for your food. After cooking, turn the temperature control to the OFF position. The cast-iron plate will gradually cool down, and food can remain warm on the burner for up to 30 minutes, leveraging the residual heat. When the appliance is not in use, always ensure the temperature control is set to OFF and unplug the power cord from the electrical outlet.

The burner also features non-slip rubber feet, which provide extra security and prevent accidental slips and falls during use. The metal housing is fire-resistant, adding to the durability and safety of the appliance.

Maintenance Features:

Proper care and maintenance are essential to ensure the longevity and safe operation of the Ovente Electric Cast-Iron Burner. Always turn OFF and unplug the appliance from the electrical outlet before cleaning. It is crucial to allow sufficient time for the appliance to cool down completely after use, ideally at least 30 minutes, before attempting to clean it.

When cleaning, do not use any abrasive cleaning agents, as these can damage the surface of the cast-iron plate or the appliance's body. It is also important to ensure that no water penetrates the appliance, as this can lead to electrical hazards.

For non-electrical parts of the cast-iron burner, wipe them with a damp sponge or a disinfectant kitchen wipe (note that a sponge and wipe are not included with the product). After wiping, dry these parts thoroughly with a soft cloth (cloth not included). The body of the appliance can be cleaned with a clean, dry cloth or sponge. After cleaning, allow the entire unit to dry completely before storing it.

Regularly checking the main cord for good and safe condition is also a recommended maintenance practice to ensure continued safe operation. If the main cord is damaged, contact your service provider immediately.
