Overview

This document provides setup instructions for the PahaQue Custom Shop A-Frame Trailer Side Tent, a tent designed to attach to an A-frame trailer, expanding its usable space.

Function Description:

The A-Frame Trailer Side Tent serves as an extension to an A-frame trailer, providing additional enclosed space. It is designed to be attached to the side of the trailer, creating a sheltered area that can be used for various purposes, such as an extra sleeping area, a dining space, or storage. The tent utilizes a combination of poles and Velcro attachments to create a sturdy and integrated extension.

Important Technical Specifications (Derived from components and setup):

  • Tent Body: Main tent body, which forms the enclosed space.
  • Roof Poles:
    • 1 extendable roof pole: Designed for the center of the ceiling, with a capped end for a pocket near the trailer and a "C" clip for the front wall.
    • 2 fixed-length roof poles: Positioned on either side of the ceiling, near the side walls.
  • Side/Corner Poles: 2 aluminum poles with pegs on one end. These are inserted into elbow connectors and through grommets at the ground.
  • Arch Pole: 1 fiberglass arch pole, installed into the front pole sleeve with ends inserted into elbow connectors.
  • Attachment Mechanism:
    • Velcro strips: Two strips of "loop" Velcro are attached to the top edges of the trailer's sidewall for initial installation. The tent's center edge has sewn-in Velcro to mate with these strips.
    • Elbow connectors: Used for the fiberglass arch pole and the aluminum corner poles.
    • Pole pockets: Located in the ceiling of the tent for the fixed-length roof poles.
    • Grommets: At the ground level for the pegs of the aluminum corner poles.
  • Stability: Guy lines and ground stake-down points are used to secure the tent to the ground, providing stability.

Usage Features:

  • First-Time Installation:
    1. Velcro Attachment: Two "loop" Velcro strips are adhered to the top edges of the trailer's sidewall. This requires cleaning the sidewall edges with glass cleaner or rubbing alcohol and allowing them to dry completely. The strips are applied starting from the apex of the sidewall while it is in the lowered position, removing the adhesive backing as you go.
  • Regular Setup Procedure (after initial installation):
    1. Tent Body Attachment: With the trailer sidewall still lowered, the center edge of the Side Tent (which has sewn-in Velcro) is placed on the apex of the trailer and then attached along the entire edge.
    2. Sidewall Erection: The trailer sidewall is then erected and locked into place.
    3. Arch Pole Installation: The fiberglass arch pole is assembled and installed into the front pole sleeve, with each end inserted into the elbow connectors on either side of the tent.
    4. Extendable Roof Pole Installation: The extendable roof pole is placed in the center of the tent's ceiling. Its capped end goes into a pocket nearest the trailer, and the "C" clip extends through the front wall, clipping onto the fiberglass arch pole.
    5. Fixed-Length Roof Pole Installation: The two fixed-length roof poles are inserted into corresponding pole pockets in the ceiling on either side of the tent, near the side walls.
    6. Corner Pole Installation: The two aluminum corner poles are assembled. The end without a peg is inserted into an elbow connector, and the end with a peg goes through a grommet at the ground.
    7. Ground Securing: Guy lines are extended, and the tent is staked to the ground using these lines and designated ground stake-down points.
